I'm leaving for Maxton in about an hour.  I'm bringing my laptop so I'll try to keep you guys updated each evening.  Hopefully to tell you I busted 220mph, but we'll see.  Gotta bring home the bragging rights again.  Can't let Jim Owens with his ZX-12 keep it too long, he might get used to it. :D

Well, went 221.735 record speed with about a 224 exit speed.  So the "Tiger" has regained the honor of being the Fastest Nitrous Bike at Maxton at least for today.  Thanks for all the well wishes. Dave Owens on his Copper 1500cc motor was going in the 205's most of the day aspirated.

222 Professor is the magic number.  Jim Owens will have to come back in Sept/Oct to regain his short lived (and well earned title) of Fastest Nitrous bike.

Strated with the 290hp tuneup and ran 214 back to back.  So I put the 325hp tune up in her and she ran the 221.75mph.  Still has a tune-up or two left in her.  But running on the dyno and running at Maxton is 2 different ballgames.  I learned some things this weekend which will help for more power.

I just got this info from Maxton!

I just received a phone call from my team mates at
maxton .................yesterday afternoon around 4:30 pm T.J
CANNON went down on a hyabusa motorcycle , apparently he went down
at the timing traps and it is speculated that his rear tire went
flat. T.J has ( according to my team mates ) at least a broken hand
and foot but news is sketchy to say the least .

dont take any of the details here as gospel but rather i am posting
here so anyone that wishes can say a little prayer for him and his
family.

Thanks Scott for the Update!

Professor Hill may be able to share with us memories of when we saw Barry Sheene fall on the front straight at Daytona at those same speeds, and how everybody was AMAZED that Barry both lived and raced again!

His crash (Barry Sheene) was the reason I Posted about the Metal Valve stem Caps. As you know, his tires deflated because the speed and certrifugal force pulled his tire vlave stems in and deflated his tires.

I am glad to see that this was more of a possible Aero problem as opposed to a tire problem!

Here is the last posts from the ECTA network.

"  You are right, all is speculation.  T.J. indeed does have a small bone in his foot broken and another in his hand. As of Sunday morning, Jim said he was doing fine. They were waiting for an orthopedist to check him out and decide when they could take him back to Richmond.T.J. actually was up and walking to the ambulance before the EMT could get to him.  He'll be might sore and of course is bruiesed and scraped, but considering the event, he's in pretty good shape.
There are a lot of theories flying around, but they are only theories.  Please don't
jump to conclusions.
Mom, Dad and sister are fine.
Joe Roberts"

I for one was REALLY amazed that TJ got up and walked to the ambulance after that fall!! Me and a friend of mine were standing there talking to Guy and his wife when TJ was making his run.....then turned to see him once he was closer to the finish line..every bit of 170 when he went down because he had just ran two 175 passes...all I can say is he's one tough sonofagun!!

Congratulations to Guy on his 221mph run on the Tiger Busa and getting that record back from the Kwaki!!!

Hope TJ has a speedy recovery.....

I'll definately be investing in some good riding gear......people like TJ prove it makes a difference.....

Last post by Thomas Conan

"well TJ is ok,
i went and saw him last night
the doc kept him last night and was going to do some more blood
work today. He broke his foot in 3 spots and his hand in one.
The doc said maybe a few screws and pins in his foot and maybe his
hand. Tj was up walking around the halls, and watching some HP TV.
He is very eager to go home!
Thomas"

It was real good to see TJ get up and walk to the ambulance. We were all very glad to see it. Thank goodness his injuries were minor, he's a great kid!!! We all missed him at the graduation "social" and were hoping for the best....

Congrats to Guy on his 221+ pass. His testing/tuneup/hard work paidoff as he had hoped. His bike was setup well, and he did his job(well). All this in less than optimum conditions IMO. Temps were well into the 90's Saturday, with headwinds at times.

I ran 05's Sat, and very consistant 06's Sunday. Best Sunday was 206.899, some passes were within a 1/10mph apart. The heat was a little better Sun, but humidity was high(75%+).

Don S. set a record(or 2) on his Gixx6, and Nick's ZX10 set a record also.

GET WELL QUICK TJ!!!!! SEE YA IN SEPT!!!!

Didn't Thomas Conan run 182 on the ZX10? This was the Bike Bergie got prepared and was to have ridden.

You just made me feel a little better because it was in the 70's here and I was thinking it was in the 70's there also which would have been record setting weather.

Professor,

Thomas did run the bike, as did Nick and Don. I think they all went over 180, and Thomas may have had the highest speed. Don had set the record, but there was some confusion at impound.

I thought Nick said Thomas was on the limiter in 6th before the trap...@183???? This would make me believe the bike is limited in 6th, since they went (almost) as fast in 5th.

There was also some concern abouth the timing lights accuracy. The exit light was reading low at various times, and they deleted it. Then the single light did not match the GPS's on hand on numerous bikes.

The heat was brutal. It was 100 Sat in the trailer, 96-98 ambient in the shade. Sunday was about 90f with that air that maeks ya swaet standing still.
