How hard is it to polish the frame/swingarm? shops?
« on: January 08, 2009, 10:11:26 PM »
I just got a busa, and really like the look of polished frames and swingarms.. how hard is it to do the polishing yourself?  how many hours we talking?  also, do shops typically do this service? whats the typical charge?

thanks!!

I got it the other day.. it already had a 4" extended swingarm, full yoshimuro exhaust from header to slipon, 2up 2 down sprockets, lowered, cleaned up tail end, and a blue pearl fresh paint job..
Here are some crappy pics.. they dont do the paint justice.
Im getting a new rear tire first, and then I might get a different screen, perhaps tinted.Im not gonna go crazy on this bike, I already went down that road with my stang. BTW, I know its hard to believe, but my stang will walk off from a busa.
Post some of your bike.

Stang is short for Mustang, and he's got a bad ass 32 valve twin turbo Mustang that is really damn fast.
Take off like a 13, flick it like a 6

Man to be honest, it was worth paying somebody to do mine.  I did my old bike and it took forever. You will need a big air compressor to keep up with the air tools. It takes about 6 hrs per side to make it look good.

Do you use any special tools?  I am polishing my wheels and using a dremel tool with a sanding wheel which seems to be working ok.

Tony or 'SycoRacing' used to have a thread around here that was THE BEST thread on polishing. I did a quick search and found his words on another site that maybe you can follow. Syco Racing's Polishing Technics

If you really want some professional help - PM 'ERacer' He is one of the best polishers on the site. Period.

I use a guy out of Virginia, just north of Richmond. Charged 500 for frame and swingarm. Best price I could find, took him 8 hours.

if interested, I could try and get his #
