zx12r 220 mph. what does it take?

i was looking at don smiths zx12r. it has the right stuff......i may convert. the busa is still deep in my heart, but why not try something new. the bike went 218 mph. i ...well if... would drag and street it. what can i guy expect from the bike? if you know about it let me know. pm or email me. don looks like he did it all the right way.

DOn Smith's turbo bike did go 218 and Jim Owens NOS Bike went 218. I think both bikes can go over 220. My feeling is that Don's bike is at about 90% of its performance and Jim's bike is at about 95 to 96%% of its performance potential. (My thinking is that the ZX12 turbo could go 240 and the ZX12NOS Bike could go 228

looks like he may have an offer, so maybe i will just stay busa. i like the way he did the bike and as you said it appears to be done the right way(except the stickers). who knows. i have not heard alot about them and i am to chicken to go that fast. love the strip and twisties. i would assume it would take over 300 hp to get that type of speed.

Its hard to reinvent the wheel.  If you want to go over 220+ it's alot easier to do it on the Hayabusa platform.  If you want to be different, why not try to do it on a Honda or Yahama.  If you succeed, you'll be one of the first.  :)

rac4it i want to be a little different, not broke! zx12r is a good platform and don appears to have done this right. my busa has 320 hp and i have been 8.70's on it and i weigh 205 nude  :oops: . love the busa's, like dons bike....love mh's black and chrome bike. just have one limitting factor......money.

I hope a ZX12R can make 228 on nitrous, lets not forget Joe Amo going 226 with ZX12 body work with a ZX10 engine on 998cc on nitrous with 14 year old stock tires on it at Bonneville on the button for 3 miles, with ace hardware parts on it and pee in his oil and a rusty chain.

Ah Don's ZX12 is missing a few components thanks to myself and Bergie. :lol:
Guess you'll have to make do with a stock ZX12 with a Velocity Stage 2 turbo......hehehe :wink:
