Xenon headlight in projector?
« on: May 11, 2006, 11:54:29 AM »
Had anyone ever added a ballast and xenon light to the projector headlight? I think it would be a good mod, atleast for me, I live in the midwest and am about to get my bike, and I know animal are terrible at night! I would like to see them as far in advance as possible! I have added xenons to alot of cars before but never to a bike, I imagine that it shouldent be too much diffrent... Does anyone know the bulb size so that I can have a kit ready when I get my bike? I tihnk im going to get a nice deep blue 8000k kit! what do you think? Thanks

if you are trying to add visibility why use a 8000k bulb?

I guess I dont understand your question....

Try going to a website like http://www.xtralights.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=10&smc=1147379807234 and click the diffrent bulbs between the 4300k and the 10000k... And then click on the halogen bulb. Then maybe edit your question?

i think what he is saying is...if visablility is your #1 concern, you should be in the 4000-6000 range. the higher temps are all pretty cool colors, but progressivly lose intensity.

ive had HID's in both locations for 5 years. major improvement. i went to the junk yard and pulled the materials out of a wrecked Lexus. $40 for both.

Oh yeah, It would save me alot to just pull the ballast Bulb and even the projector out of an older car with HID. Thanks for the idea! I mean increasing visability is my main reason for adding hid, but heck you need to look good too.

thats the low beam.   the high beam projector should be left alone IMO because you can still flash quickly to alert vehicles, riders, etc.  you cannot flash a HID system.

Hey thanks for posting those night pics of the HID.

I don't even think the manufacturers have nighttime pics of their gear.
