Is their an equivilant socket to a 36mm that would work on the rear axel?

lets see 2.54 cm per inch
10mm=1 cm
3.6cm = 1.417 inch

You can use Google.com for all kinds of conversions too.  Here you would type "36mm in inches", no quotes, in the search field and it does the conversion for you.

so a 1 7/16=1.4375 so that will work

I use 1-7/16" wrench or socket .    I never thought that I'd ever use that wrench again since I brought my tools home.   Not a total waste I guess :D   (originally purchased to turn over Detroit Diesel engines)
