No nitrous, just modest turbo setup. Going back in line to play some more in a couple of hours.

Hank is going to leave in teh morning, he will bring with him some of the brightest Turbo Busa minds to ever grace the Salt. (No not Chris and RZ350)   8)

Jack Christer just left and will be there in the morning to make another attempt at a 200mph run on his 749cc GSXR Turbo bike.  He ran 204 before the boost line broke and a wiring gremlin got the best of him, he came all the way back to Calif to get it fixed and just left my house 5 minutes ago with a running bike with the parts needed to make another attempt at 205+ mph, I hope to see him run 210 or so.

Jon please tell Rick Y that Jack Christer has a Busa transmission for him for his 328mph Busa powered car if he needs it, I sent him with one ready to bolt in in case he wants to continue to run that combination.

Jon, when you post please CC me at jnoonan@jepistons.com

Thanks and good luck with the 600cc Turbo "project 200"

Stolen without permission from LANDRACING.COM...thanks Jon..

Evening Runs

Ed Mabry Triumph powered bike now down to 1650 APS/PBF made a pass with a new rider on board and went 222 mph. This is the same bike that had a 256 exit speed years past. Looks as if they are right back on track. Minnono who was the old rider, now has a new bike posted another qualifing run of 226 mph. That is three in a row. Dave Matson running his old vintage Vincent posted a speed of 197 mph. This bike has been over 230 mph. Dave is over 70+ years old and been racing the same bike for over 20 years. He bought it new in 1956. Susan Robertson running a 650cc P/P bike posted a huge number for the bike with two runs of 167 and 163 mph. Earl Wooden posted a 341 mph run on a Nish record of 331 in the AA/GS class. George Fields Trackmaster D/BFCC went fast again, but what else do we expect from them anymore but we are always amazed running 275 mph. Kent Riches came back with his motorcycle streamliner, but now has fitted a Sportster motor in running a 1350cc S/G has made a few tow starts and one mile run the check things out and is ready to make a full pass. Speaking on motorcycle streamliners the Vincent liner was a no start on its first attempt. Sam Wheeler finally made it to the event with the EZHOOK liner and got teched out and will be ready to make a run as long as there is no wind. Skip Hedrick made I think its first serious attempt and went 311.633 mph in the last timed mile running close to the Nish Record of 322. Ken Hardman had a little mishap at the line spun out, crossed by the AM Tower and came back across the course, oopps. There is a team all the way from Japan, Kay Kinomoto, known as Kinopy, took her right hand drive 2002 380Z, called "Blacky" and gutted it and made the 3.5L motor to a 3.8L running in E/GT has been making her way over to the long course posted a speed of 160 and intends running faster once on the long course. She would like to send a message back to her friends in Japan, "I'm still alive, very happy and very hot." Let me say this crew is such a great experience to talk too. Bob Moreland trying out his new 5000cc sit on Harley Bike posted its first run of 58 mph. Keith Turk now running his Berkley after his wife Tonya got into the 200 club posted a speed of 246 mph which qualifies him on Tonya's new record. Both the Chet Herbert 4 engine streamliner and the Old Arivette liner now owned by Haas Racing made test passes and are thinking running full attempts tomorrow. The Chet Herbert car has potential of running 400+ mph.

This evening a very nasty looking storm looks if its brewing so we will see how it is tonight.

I spoke with Danno today, he said lots of wind and a little rain, said there was rain in the forecast for the next few days.  He has run a top speed of 210 mph with stock wheelbase and hopes to make one more run today maybe two.

Joe Amo ran another 237+ mph run on his "little"  1989 1000 cc Kawasaki, if he can manage another stellar run in the morning he could have the fastest record holding open wheel bike in the 50 plus years at Bonneville.

GOOD LUCK JOE! ! !  :D

edited because I had bad info..

Just got back in, the meet from about 2 pm on was shut down due to wind and rain. Wind gusts over 30 mph, left some standing water on course around the 1 mile. This standing water could be swept away by the wind overnight, and to a point help cure the salt. Looks as if most of the rain was north of the salt, but it did leave some. Thats why it is important to get to the meet early, and set records early, and not leave anything for the "End of the week" because end of the week could be Tuesday, like in 1992 when the rains hit, left 2-5 inches of standing water on the course, took 2 days to go away, then racing resumed with less then favorable conditions.

Anyways, Joe Amo only went 237 mph on another qualifing run and is in impound, he had a intake sensor go bad when in high gear, the 5 volt ref voltage screwed with all other sensors on bike causing some erractict reading to the ECU, not good. We have fixed the problem and will run again in the am.

Jason McVicar also hit impound with a with 170+ speed in an open bike class.

Well Joe AMO still a great run 237 ! !

Danno told me he had run over 240 plus today...

Hank is on his way with crew and should be there in the morning and ready if the salt is.

Scott,

I think you are wrong, Mountain States Automation either set 6 or 7 records one year. Their pit was in impound. I beleive they set two records on a Friday last day of racing. Set record in morning, qualified again, and set record in return runs in afternoon.
I will verify this tomorrow morning.

So, Jonathan (landracing), do you think the event will be running tomorrow, Wed. 18?. Or did it rain enough to prevent them from continuing, at least for tomorrow?.

       Thanks.

Danno went 217 today, Green Gobline ZX12 went 210 MPS-F 1350 going after Jim Owens 213 record. Hank showed up with his bikes getting thru tech, Mike Akins showed up and teched his twin engine hayabusa streamliner bike, EZ HOOK went 330 mile and 338 exit that is the fastest one way run for a bike liner and could make history tomorrow morning if the course holds from the rain we had tonight. The current record is 322 mph.
