Sam Wheeler today backed up yesterdays run of 330 mph aboard the MR Turbo equipped MC Streamliner with a top speed today of 334 mph! !

The new outright MC record speed is now over 332mph !!

This reset's the record that was long held by the Easyrider's Streamliner piloted by Dave Campos.

That record was done with two old school HD Shovelhead engines and the record I believe was set in 1990 and was 322+ mph.

Way too go Sam !!

That is a great accomplishment. Last time at the salt, I remember they were just trying to get a decent run from that thing. Give Terry Kizer credit for supporting some really fast efforts recently - Rich Yancy's bike too.

While first taking off or coming to a stop, how does the rider maintain balance? Are there other wheels that come out?

Awesome job. 334mph WOW!!!

Even though it is a streamliner, it is powered with a motorcycle engine and has 2 wheels therefore a totally enclosed motorcycle.

This is opposed to an open wheeled motorcycle where the rider is in full view and sitting upright (sort of) going 251mph+

Either way, I would give my left cajone to drive either one of them.

My GPS says 437mph on it. It was that way after I (think) I put the batteriesd in backwards.

Congratulations.
Anybody know how the rudder is controlled?
Is it a trim tab or is it actively connected to the steering?
Seems to me that it would affect countersteering in a big way.

Personally, I think the term "motorcycle" and "bike" needs to be re-defined.

500 HP Busa engine probably wouldn't go much, if any faster. While Many may not remember, Terry Kizer put up almost 500 HP numerous times in the mid to late 90's with a zx-11 powerplant. Back then the motors may not have been able to stand up to a top speed run, and if my memory serves me correctly, he cracked a wastegate or header one year while on the dyno, but still, he made almost 500 ponies with zx-11 technology like 6 years ago. He has been making HUGE power for many years more than most any other players have even been in the turbo game. There may be better systems available now, but no one has been around and pioneered as much as Terry Kizer, as the record shows.

That is correct.

On a side note, are you allowed to run nitrous on a fuel bike for land speed, using the nitrous as "fuel"??

I'm not sure , but at crazy speeds like 332+ mph , I hope they don't go to full deflection

My guess is it helps during low speed steering and/or to help get it upright off of the skids .

I'm thinking it is there to aid countersteering.
Countersteering works by steering the contact patch out from under the bike's center of gravity causing the bike to lean over and turn.
On a bike with such a long wheelbase this process must be pretty slow.
The rudder could help tip the bike and cause it to turn.
Sure would take a bunch of experimentation to get this right.
All that is just theory.
Maybe also helps in crosswinds?

I don't think that bike is going to do much leaning over or turning at 300+ MPH. I believe it is to steer with much like a plane, but I am just simple folk!
