Were you at 2300+ feet above sea level?  There were other stock 1ks there, and no one was even close...

He wasn't at 2300ft but he did have Ryan Schnitz on the seat doing the 9.8s. Come on Rob tell it like it is. :P

Nick- Again, I'm not trying to clutter the thread. I know that a lot of these guys drive their Supras daily- on pump gas with the boost turned down, and in that condition, they won't pull more than about 500 hp or so, no matter what configuration they are in. Basically, they are on a leash- they can't go any further than their tank of race gas will take them. We go fast on 87 octane. Any time, anywhere. They also can't do top-end stuff without putting the pistons in the pan. That's why we don't see any 225 mph Supra top end runs. They got the gears, they got the horsepower, they got the aeros- but the lower end won't put up with that for any length of time under constant high-load full throttle (top end) use.

So throw up the vid... :)

You "killed" some stock Busas with 600hp??? You better have more than that if you wanna kill a stock Busa!!

You better bring more than 600 hp to the party if you want to get around a Hayabusa rider that is merely awake.

ya i dunno if you can do it with 600Hp. Mani gave it a good shot a few times in desert a while ago but he could not leave the busa. I think he had about 600hp?

This is why we went. We wanted an undeniable win over a stock busa. The Video of Danno Vs Daniel proves it. We saw a lot of Supras at the Drag strip. The ones that were not annoying kids, knew that it takes a really strong car that is dialed in to do it.

There was a 1200Hp car there. Nice guy. His setup was described as a little "experimental". In his configuration he didn't think he could do it. Another guy from AZ had at least 600hp in a six speed and he didnt think he could do it. So forgive us if we find it hard to believe.

The undeniable win still depends on the conditions.  First, I am not taking either side!  Undeniably, those cars are AWESOME!  However, remember that a "win" either way is subject to the conditions applied.  I am not sure we know who is victorious if we ran a standing mile, whatever car it is/is not.  Regardless, I was amazed by those Supras and had NO idea they were that strong...

Also, all the car guys were cool except one...   It was FUN!  We should do it again and leave the attitudes at home.

Cayman, this is LYTLdiablo from Supraforums.

Not to take sides, but in all honesty, I don't see you pulling a stock busa in 600whp trim.  What I would believe is that your 24psi generates much more than 600whp.  Your size turbo should make 600 on 18-21psi I'd suspect without trouble.  (assuming your converter is locked up).

There is however a bit of mis-information from Kirk.  I'm not trying to start an argument, just correcting information.  I would not try and say I know everything about busas, especially modified hayabusas, as I don't own one...and the same should be done on the other side of the fence.

  -  limited to 500whp on pump gas --> hardly.  There are MANY cars with over 600whp on pump, and some with over 700whp.  This may not be busa-beating power levels, but obviously it's a large difference from 500.

  -  need pistons for top end runs -->  why?  Our pistons have proven themselves up to 980whp, why would we necessarily need to drop in new slugs just to drive our cars fast?

  -  never find supras running race gas on the street -->  There are many supra owners (especially in the Cali/Arizona/Nevada area) that run race gas, or a heavy mix exclusively.  If you need to bank on the octane in the tank, you may be in trouble.

Like I said, not looking to cause static, as Nick said on supraforums, I hope our two communities can grow and become friends from these races and others like it in the future.  Good to see that no one got butt-hurt over how it happened, who jumped, why this or that...and that everyone had a good time.  I look forward to the videos regardless of outcome.  Keep up the good work, Nick. :thumb:

My race against Daniel's (not Dennis) Supra was dead even in the first race. I got the jump on him, but he stayed even with me the whole way. In the second race, we got an even start and he started pulling away from me and continued to do so. He definately had more power the second run than the first. He attributed it to his ECM "learning". Possibly. Or, he may have turned up the boost. Either way, it's a seriously fast car and I enjoyed racing him!!

If I had raced Dana's car, I would have been prey. Talk about a BAD car!!          :thumb:  :thumb:

Mark- Thank you for being an adult. It's not my intention to fling poo.

I said 500 hp "or so". 500 hp, 600hp it makes little difference in how it looks in our mirrors.

It's pretty much accepted that it's going to take just shy of 1000 horsepower to hang with a stock Hayabusa, and the truth is that virtually none of our bikes are stone stock.

As far as race gas goes, keep in mind that the Hayabusa is a sport-TOURING motorcycle. SV Hottie and I did about 2000 miles in one weekend on our way to Laguna Seca and back on our honeymoon. I once rode 1500 miles 'round trip to Tahoe on the spur of the moment. I put whatever burned in my tank from where ever was handy. And at no time was the bike not capable of a solid 9-second quarter-mile AND cracking 200 mph for as long as the gas in the tank would last. I didnt' see any 1200 horsepower Supras in Susanville California.

And I stand by my comments about those cars not being able to hold together in top speed runs. With all due respects, show us a video of a top speed run. Like two miles with the throttle held open. I do not deny that there are Supras that put out a lot of horsepower- long enough to get a dyno reading, or to squirt from 60-160. But that's all I've seen.

Kirk, you are wrong. I speak from experience, not speculation, it takes bwtween 8-900 whp to keep up with or slightly pull a stock Busa for a car weighing what a Supra or Viper or Vette weighs with their aeros. At about 160 mph, a lesser hp car will start to catch a stock Busa and eventually overtake it if they have enough gear in it.

I didnt try to start a fight or go off-topic by saying what I said, I was just stating a fact, wich is that I beat a stock busa, 50 to 150, pump gas 24psi no nitrous, wich is over 600whp on my car, of course like I said im not ur average supra, I sport a racing 3sp transmission, run 315/35-17s drag radials daily, have extreme weight transfer even from a roll.....dont get me wrong, busas, especially turbo ones, are much faster than busas, and im a mad bike lover, I was just stating a fact after seeing what kirk said, ive always been a busa lover and will always be, even if I cant keep up with most of u guys ;)

I think it's totally possible that you beat a Busa with your car.  Some people can't ride to save their lives.  When I first got my bike I would say for two months I would have lost my ass.  I had no idea how to use it to it's full potential.  Now I'm not saying that you ran a guy that couldn't ride, just that it's one of the many possibilities.

I was just wondering why it is the Supra and not another car that they choose to modify? What is the weight of one of these cars? Do they usually have twin turbos and what kind of mods do they do? How much does it cost to build a car like these? I just had a thought, I could probably go to the car forum and learn all that stuff.....sorry

Supras are straight sixes, 3 liter displacement and bullet-proof. Perfect for putting bigger turbo(s) on. I think the weight is about 3300.
