exhaust myths
« on: October 21, 2004, 07:49:31 AM »
was at the local strip this past weekend and noticed a few guys running straight headers off their busa's.....my setup is already loud enough...but curious if anyone knows the adverse affects of doing this?  any power gains/loss?  how will it affect the bike long term?     i know these guys made a few passes with some of the loudest busa's i've ever heard....just curious if the bike can handle it for long periods of time?

No cans sound the same as slips ons :? . How the hell is that even possible. No cans has GOT to be a lot louder than slip ons.

no i'm saying they have some aftermarket headers, not sure what brand...they looked stainless...dropped down just under the fairing and that was it....loud as hell....they basically just removed the pipe that leads to the cans as well as removing the cans...just a header and thats all....now is that damaging to the engine?  i have always heard yes...but some say no...just looking for evidence and proof in some way shape or form....sorry for the confusion...

so you don't think its damaging to the engine whatsoever?  these headers were 4:2.....2 piece header...i wouldn't mind running my bike like this at the track if i knew im not losing power or destroying the engine...who knows
