Who cuts down busa tanks for Land speed racing?

I am thinking about cutting down a 600 tank on my gixxer. Who does those and how much does it cost?

Hey Don,
The ZX9R that Chad will be riding next week-end at Maxton has a cut down tank, I'll get some info for you.

Chad was wanting to know if you are bringing the 600 back to Maxton
next week-end.

I did mine also and have a working fuel gauge also!


The last pic is a guy in Hawaii (Cannot get his finger out of the Camera that made a CF Cut down tank. It is not brain surgery, do the cutting and fitting yourself and take it to a good welder!

FYI, if I remember correctly there is a minimum requirement for fuel capacity, I think it's over 2 gallons but not sure, someone with a rulebook can look it up.  So when you fabricate your own tank, check the rulebook.

2004 ECTA rulebook, page 52 Item 5)
Gas Tanks:  If not original to the model engine used, tanks must have a minimum of 5 liters or 1.32 gallons

Good info.  5 liters is nothing, it used to be more I think.  That's great that it's less than I thought!

Believe it or not, I can stuff 3 gallons (2.5) with plenty of room) in my cut down tank.
