« on: December 13, 2004, 10:28:24 AM »
I'm pretty sure it is do-able but want to double check...can anyone verify you can put a 200 rear tire on a stock arm and not have any rubbing?

I have heard previously that you can go to a 200 but once you hit 210 you start rubbing...just lemme know

and anyone that is interested in Shinko street legal drag race tires...i can get these in 190 and 200, your choice of 2 compounds...for 140 TYD brand new.....can anyone get these at a better deal??  if so lemme know

measure your tire. I will guarantee you wont find many that are actually 190mm. most are 192-198. a 200 is for poseur value only.

Yup. Why pay extra to make your bike accelerate slower, have less traction, and handle worse? All while advertising that you're a poser. Put a 180 on it and you'll never go back. Quicker acceleration, higher top speed, lighter, less expensive, handles better, and much better traction- lays down much more rubber when banked over.

180 wears out faster than a 190 in the center on a turbo bike, where the power gets laid down.  I don't like how the avon 200 I have on handles at all though... weak grip in the corners and turns in like a fucking pig.

But... it has out lasted every other tire I have ever had on there.

I just recently put a shink 005 on mine and it handles just as well as the Pilot sport did and I have bigger foot print than I did with the pilot. I guess size really depends on what you want to do - staight line or cornering.

arizona motorsports has the shinkos for a good deal all the diffrent brands. i like the stealth, they wear out faster but grab alot better than the rest.

im a big fan of the fat rear tires. and could care less about draggin a knee in a twisty. and 5k is too much for the 250 conversions. and a local dealer is running a sale on a 200/60/17 battlax.  and i always heard that a 200 will fit on the stock arm. like i said im not a cornering junkie anyway! so whatta u  think?!?!? honestly!

200 fits fine, looks nice, corners like shit.  Depends on if you are more for looks and straight lines or performance and corners.

Its odd to me that its common knowledge that the 180 and 190 are favorites, but atthe same time I wacthed a mid 9 sec nitrous R1 loose to a 10 sec ctreet car last week.  Why......because he spun. He was on a shinko (soft compound) adn was about 8 over.  I don t care much if my track time suffers alittle if I can still put down a pass on the street. For that reason I now have a 205/40/17 bfg (car tire) drag radial on.  I have a 5 over 600 swing arm. It is a tight fit but its in there, its FLAT.....like square, I rarely notice it in corners unless I just got off my bandit or something. It keeps my speeds down on the street, except for pure sttraight line stuff. Does it hook......seems good so far, butr I have more testing to do. It seems to spin in 40-50 degree weather, but still not as bad as any bike tire I have ever used.  Heat in it, and I can t get it to spin.

poser value.....high, its gets all kinds of attention.

A mid-9 second bike that spun? You'd pretty much have to try to screw up a bike in order to get that to happen. The acceleration of stock modern bikes is pretty much wheelie-limited up to about 100 mph or so, depending on the particular bike. They don't have traction problems unless you do something to create one.

You know if your gonna attck me pesonally....thats up to you if you feel its nessary to act like a child. Feel free to re read my post....an R1 at 8 over.....that can run mid 9's at 2500 ft....thats a worked biked. And at 8 over.....it won t ever wheelie, but it will spin.  ALSO please feel free to do a search, there is a button you click on, at the top of the page. If you search las vegas, danas, supra, etc...you ll probably find comments from many internet heros that seem to think the roads in las vegas do not provide any traction at all. Something to the effect that they are covered in oil , cold, the worst they ever road on.....so on , so on.....so if you ever find your self in vegas let me know Ill be glad to run you.

Also feel free to look at what poeple actually run in las vegas at the track....you won t find many that run in 9's on a street bike.

What kind of person cooralates your sexual preferance to the tire you have on the back of one of your motorcycles? I can t possibbly see the relationship. BTW, as you can see I have other bikes, so why would I be concerned about how well a busa turns, when so many other bikes are a bit better at it.

oh ya, edit, I didn t spend hardly any money....infact I built my busa from a wreck (that I didn t have anything to with) so I brought one back, and had to buy few things anyways from mostly board members infact. Im into my busa for far less then most people.

The only reason you say it corners like Shit, is because you corner like a panzy.....  I have the same tire as you, and I will out corner your ass, out drag your ass, out top end your ass, and just plain kick your ass whenever your ready.  You punk ass.

For street , you cant beat the Avon 46st.  You can get it in 180, 190, 200 series, what every you like, and they out last any tire on the market in my opinion.  If there is one that will out last it, please tell me so I can get one.  I got over 6K miles out of my AV46st. As far as getting a tire that will hook up on the street as good as on the track.  I dont think they make such a tire.

I would think that the only way to get 6000 miles out of a Hayabusa rear tire would be to trailer the bike for 4000 miles.

You sure it's a 60 series tire? Is the side wall noticebly bigger than others? A real 60 series tire should put a lot of meat on the road when leaned over and raise the rear end by quite a bit. A didn't know Bridgestone made such a tire.
