How well does he have to ride them?.

he should be able to ride them well enough to justify having a 450 hp bike, I dont think anyone owns a turbo bike without exploiting its potentiol?

personally I could care less what he rides, drives, buys, or rents...

the new guy ALWAYS has to be careful when he represents himself, especially when he is out of his realm...

he badgered our leader and said he pulled an R-1, BFD I pulled granny in her vette last night on I-5, guess I should have taped it and posted it on the vette forum?

fact is I pull mofos every time I ride, maybe I should just keep the camera rolling and post it for every vehicle type forum out there?

also, someone needs to tell him that pulling an R-1 is no feat of magic, that same granny I pulled on the freeway last night was pulling an R-1

Ideally.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just saying I don't have a problem with anyone buying whatever they want, if they can afford it.

JS good to see your car again. I can't figure out why peeps are giving ya shit. Hell your car has been here before twice in the fulltilt/nickslick video and the other vid with you chasing the '04 r1 through the canyons. Good run and nice vid.

2 reasons I can see for these guys to be hassling Joel -

1) They don't know he's been in Nick/Danno/Kerry's other vids and are rightfully skeptical of any car guy that comes on the board and claims to beat a bike at anything.

2) They can't afford a car like his.

how about the fact that most of us have spanked cars who made similar claims. Or do we need the Walser bullshit to start up again and debate about missed shifts etc? Face facts Wayne, car guys who come here with under 20 posts and post a video claiming to beat a bike are here for one thing and one thing only, to stir shit.

I love cars, and yep it takes TONS of cash to build a fast one. BUT in reality if you are looking to go fast, doesn't intelligence just say go buy a bike and work wiuth the better base rather than just waste your inheritance?

good point s4l!  you know what they say, some people have more money than brain.  it's their money so they can do as they please but why go the long way and spend 10x the money for the same result.  not to mention maintenance cost and emission regs.

And some people have MONEY and BRAINS and want more than a single purpose machine that goes fast.  Fast is relative, but a streetcar that has 650+hp is a lot of fun, especially when it's quiet and street legal.

I have always thought big HP cars were a pain, I always break somethin, plus they're gas hogs and HUGE targets for the police. bikes are a lot smaller, harder to spot and easier to hide in a pinch. plus I can split lanes...

I fucking hate cages on the roads!!!

I do like road racing cars however, never been into straight line stuff, so I can have fun in a crout can...  :D

anyways, whats his name shouldnt get all beat up over a silly bullitin board and a video, I was fishin and you guys queered my action...

true, some people just like cars and feel better in it.  however, if performance and beating a bike is the target, people that spends 10x the money on performance mods and only acheive what a stock bike does do have more money than brain.  but it's their money so it's all good.

it's not the route i would take if speed was the target but if he wants to, it's his money, by all means, pour a ton of money and time on it to acheive what a bike would do right out of the box.  it's a free country.

Guys relax it takes more money and more HP to make a car real fast..remember that in a car you dont have to wear a helmet and have a better chance of coming out of an accident with fewer injuries..relax on the Vette guy at leat he is out there doing somthing not just here talking about how fast he "would be if he lined up against you....

Shit he has been faster than 80 percent of us here and comes on our website with a great car that I would trade my bike for in a  New York minute..
First sidecar over 200mph @ 218+ also the fastest ever record!
Fastest Open bike over a mile from 2005-2008 @ 259.393

One thing people have failed to realize here it that it was not a race that was videoed. It was some canyon carving that at one point gave an opportunity to open it up a little and the vette pulled the R1 when this happened. After having seen Joel's vette and what it can do, any other outcome would suprise me.

It was not a race!

Here's a vid of the same car vs. an '02 R1 (starting about 2:15 into the vid)
The R1 pulls at the beginning, but the vette reels it in. Video

This is VERY well put D!!!

What did piss me off just a bit, is that I don't make a habbit of pulling that high a MPH. When I do risk life and limb and freedom and pull what I know to be the far side of 185 MPH+, only to be told that I did not.... Well that got me a little :cussing:

We were just out for a cruise, not a race....

I should have been more clear in the initial post.

The Nickslick vid was shot before I added the 50 ponies.

Here's another vid before the added HP with another buddy on his Modded R6.

I back off a few times to stay in the vid, he is a good rider, but the HP is a bit much for him.

Here's a short vid of me and a rather inexperienced Busa rider. My car is setup for canyon and roadracing, so I'm not much of a dragracer myself. I like to drive my car home in one piece, so I don't launch very hard on the rare times I go to the drags.

Nice Joel. I know the road. Careful there as I've seen some 'official road inspectors' keeping track of things at that particular point.

And guys, I've pulled a GPS we stashed in the back of Joel's car out after a run and seen 185 on it. AND if I recall correctly, that was before he made a number of improvements that boosed his HP another 50 to the RW. If it wasn't 190, it was within 5% of it. It is slightly downhill at that spot, too.

Brave man jumping into the shark tank, Joel. Good on ya!

   Thanks Kerry!!!

Yeah, I noticed near the end of the video when you really cranked it up that there were bikes and cars parked on both sides of the road.  Must have been a treat for them to see a bike and car fly by at 185+ mph.  Then again, you have to wonder what would of happened if someone couldn't judge the bike and your speed and pulled out in front of you both.  Gotta wonder about the unforeseen sometimes ...

good rider? OK, conservative rider from what I examined...

here is a rule of thumb I safely ride by given decent road temps...

I am speaking indicated...

35 mph and under twice the posted speed limit...

35 mph and above three times the posted speed limit...

what I mean by safely is about 65% of my bikes capability and my capability. if I feel the roads deserve better I can give it, but I like to keep a little extra for decreasing radiuses and hazards.

I noticed the speed limit on the road you were on was 45 mph, the bike was doing around 85 in most turns I would consider high speed sweepers, thats less than twice the speed limit, very conservative for a sportbike.

some of those sweepers are all out bends, 145+ he was doing 120?

I also noticed you brake early, which would give a sportbike an excellent opprotunity for passing.  :D

in any event it looks like you were having fun and I guess thats what its about, I also have to prop you because there really arent many cars around that like to road race like that, people dont know just how much fun it really is  :D
