I just had 01' checked and no adjustments were needed. I am right at 10K miles. I am a little bigger than the average rider so I wondered if that could make a difference. But, all within spec. I did need to have the throttle bodies synch'd. I have not had much chance to ride after the work because of the rain here.

Idle speed oil type driving off when its stone cold reving it high when its cold all will kill your cams but your size will have no effect on cam lobe adjustment/ wear. I have a nice set of factory dial gauges for scnchtonizing carbs did it make much difference? That would be a fun no mess job....Hey Ill od it here for free is any of the fellow biker scum wants to come over saturday? maybe shoot one of my neighbors have a pig roast?

I just rolled 30,000 miles on my Busa last week, and I still haven't checked the valves.

I guess I should.

Eh, it'll be OK for another 10,000.

on my '00 I did not check the valves until 21K and they were spot on.

I would not bother until 20K or unless if you are hearing some odd valve train noises.  these things are so over built.

you have been really funny over on lab's.......lol

Just checked my shims at 23,000. Didn't need to change any. Don't know of any Busa under 20,000 that has. Checked them at 12,000. Waste of time but made me feel better.

At 15,000 I had one valve shimmed.  Exhaust I think.   It was in tolerance but close.  The mechanic said it probably would have been OK to leave it as is after checking the rest.  I think he just likes looking in a busa engine.

But the throttle bodies were way out of adjustment.  They needed attention more than the valves and it runs a lot better since they were adjusted.

I just had the valves check on my '97 gixer600 and they were all perfect.  I was at 8k miles on the speedo and was told to check them again at 12k.  My carbs needed to be synch'd and it runs so much smoother now.  I will probably check my valves at 12k just to be sure but it more than likely will be ok.

I had one shim replaced at 12,522 miles. They were checked again at 26,041 and were good. Bike has 36,000 now and will be checked again at around 40,000 in early spring.
