Was up guys I'm trying to find a company that sells a wide tire kit for an 05 bus.i would like to get a 250mm or 300mm tire.can anyone help me and give me a number i can call.Thanks.....Doug....  :D

why do you put up a picture of another bike? We all know that no bike can compare to a busa, so you must be gay to even ride another bike....

I bet you put race tires on sometimes too.....god thats GAY....you can t ride it for any distance on those. Why don t you put on a nice hard long lasting touring tire so you can go ride it.....

And I do put race tires on, pretty much every time I go to the track.

SV Hottie and I did 2000 miles in one weekend two-up on our way to Laguna Seca on my Hayabusa. We were able to carry a week's worth of tent-camping gear with us on the bike (while lane-splitting the last 50 miles in 100+ degree weather). I mounted up a fresh set of street compound Rennsports a couple of hours before we left, and they were toast from edge to edge by the time we got back. 165 mph down I-5 through central Oregon. 110 nearly knee-down on I-5 through Southern Oregon. Railed the PCH from Leggett all the way down. She nearly got her knee down from the back seat. Got stopped by the CHP three times in about three hours. 110 mph second gear two-up stand-ups wheelies on the freeways in Monterey. Two-up stoppies while lane splitting. More two-up stoppies on Cannery Row in front of the police for all the cameras. I think we got some use out of the bike.

rdt- It's not my personal preference. It's a fact that it wrecks the handling of the bike. It gives less traction. It makes the bike slower accelerating. It does nothing to improve the bike in any way.

my buddy has the complete kits and wheels in stock check out

I have 30,000 miles experience riding the Hayabusa with six different tire sizes and countless compounds. I am an expert-licensed road racer and I am an instructor at our track.

All I can say is that if it is "cool" to wreck a perfectly good bike like that, with no quantifiable improvement in any way, then I prefer not to be cool. I'd rather ride.

Thank you mbs185 for the info, Kirk i'm new to the bike and I don't intend on racing in any way.I would like it to look like a drag bike.The bike is going to go to shows and a couple of hang outs around here.My racing days are over, I build and own a 9sec street driven supra which is driven like an old lady...lol..BTW Kirk is having that big of a tire in the back going to pose problems driving and turning on the streets...Doug... :?

Welp sorry to disagree with the mighty Kirk BUT he's full of shit about the contact patch. I know most choppers use a 10" wheel. In turns yes the contact patch will be very close to what a 180 will put down (that's better than a 200 puts down  :wink: ) but flat line they'll have over DOUBLE.

So 6" over, lowered and with a big tire? Yep it'll suck to ride. Harley will handle better than you.

Yup. The wider and lower the profile of the tire, the narrower the "edge" of the rubber is any time you are not 100% straight up and down. Even if you've got no turns where you live, you crack the throttle open on a curving freeway on-ramp or something like that, and you've got a Hayabusa engine putting the power to a 10-speed bicycle's tire contact patch. You could certainly be sliding down the road on your butt.

Plus, it's going to take a lot of power to accelerate a tire and wheel combination as big and heavy as that. Unless you've got a turbo, you're going to get your butt handed to you by 1000cc bikes in roll-ons.

And I seriously doubt that any of those big tires are made from sport-bike type rubber compounds. After all, they are designed for parking in front of the Blue Oyster, not riding. It may be big, but I'll bet it spins like it's on greased owl poop. And if it spins, you may get passed by a pretty good running Honda Civic, prompting endless internet stories of a Honda Civic "killing" a Hayabusa. Save the rest of us the trouble and just put a normal tire on it.

Top speed? Again, this is a tire that was designed to be parked, not ridden. You won't see any of them at venues like Maxton or Goliad.

You want it to look like a drag bike? Drag bikes don't use stupid stuff like that. SBS bikes use tires no wider than 190mm.

What we're talking about here is kind of like the Mexican low-riders. Some may think it looks cool, but the cars are slower than stock and handle like crap.

Is your idea of what impresses other people really worth spending that much money and making the bike slower and handle like crap?

lowering the bike makes it awkward and squirrely in turns. Stretching the bike gives it longer wheelbase thus harder to turn and twitchy at low speeds. Big tire is more mass to throw around, more of a flat( contact) patch to deal with thus makes it slower and harder to turn. You want to do all 3. If its a show bike GREAT! Enjoy showing it. If you plan to do any real miles, then consider a new plan of attack.

My bike is 5 over....lowered, and has a 205/40/17 bfg CAR drag radial. IT IS SQUARE. IT IS SOFT.  First time I rode it, it was different. Now , its been months....and to be honest I rarely notice. I uusually ride very saftly on the street, you don t know what is in the street on every corner. I ussually hammer it when its stood up , on a clear straight away.  I dare say that I think I can run 1.5 60's on the street. Will I ever know? no probably not, but it leaves very very well. I have a 600 arm, and it barely, barely fits. Total cost......lets see... I had to buy this stuff anyways, as I rebuilt the bike....the arm was 400$, the wheel and tire was $350......and I have another stock wheel with regular 180 race tire on it that is a direct swap. I do not use it though, I thought I would.

The tire is 8.5 inches wide.....tread is 7.5.  The bfg is shorter then a stock tire, and I have it geared 17/45 now......which is pretty good for drag racing and my 250lb frame.

I think one of the best parts is that yes it looks cool, it dosn t cost a lot like a 240 conversion, and it interchanges with a the oem stuff so drag racing friday night, and canyons on saturday is  pretty easy. I am lazy though and ussually find myself on another bike on saturday like my 1200 bandit.

Doug, I've fooled around with ride height and wheelbase too.

A better idea might be for you to have the suspension adjustable so that you can lower it for drag racing type usage and/or cruising, and then raise it back up to actually ride it. Lowering it doesn't wreck the handling like putting a big tire on it, but you'll notice the difference. The up side is, that it won't make it any less stable- it'll still be safe to ride.
