Here are some speeds of the kawka and busa as run on Lake Gairdner ( salt ) all the speeds below were achieved on production  as in OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR absolutly no modified engine parts , though both had their respective ECU's programmed to the riders specification

Kawasaki ZX 12R  192.250 mph Ron Whowell ( who was dieing of terminal cancer at the time of the run and is now passed away)2003

Suzuki Hayabusa   196.420 mph Grant Schlien  ( pro drag racer  retired ) 2004

both were one way runs and b oth speeds were taken at the 4 mile timer

the fastest I could get out of my stock bussa 99 model was again at Lake Gairdner  188.205 mph and it dynoed from memory around 162 rwhp

I have no bias as I run both a suzuki and a kawasaki
Hawkwind

Grant also took that same stock Busa that went 196.420 ( which was a new class record at the time) and then went 198.347 and 204.104. The Busa is the black bike # 371 in the pic.

Thats very impressive for a stock bike

Goliad stock Busa record by Lee Albert 197.540 (1 Mile) :D

Goliad stock ZX-12 record 176.25  :?     was not me,
I actually went slower       Extra stock on those!

NOT TRYING TO COMPARE, just adding to the conversation and having
a little laugh at those ZX-12's :P  :P

I think they ment stock engine, but I might be wrong.
Just to clarify Lee Albert's Busa had a couple exterior
mods. I believe things like airshifter, lowered, PC/data
logger, Pipe, ect. I think he can break 200mph (1mile)
with the right weather conditions (No crosswind and good temp).

Yeah he changed the pipes to megaphones re entered as mps-g for the 204.
Have to remember we are nearly at sea level so the NA bikes should have a slight advantage compared to a lot of the US venues

Same bike ran in the modified class this year March 2005 and  ran 196.206mph.  Went back to production and ran 198.347.
Conditions or engine tune ..dont know the reasons.

I was looking for something and came across this and a couple of things are a bit misunderstood.
The 336 mentioned for Vesco was actually 331 over the mile. That was after he blew the manifold off as it backfired when it floated the valves at 351 in the segment between the 4 mile and the kilo marker.
It blew up both chutes and flatened the rear tire before it stopped. It's a long story why He was running that way that is not important now.
The extra length everybody is worried about actually slowed the stock bike down as it built heat in the extra distance. The reason I used 2 traps is to show if the entry is slowing or getting faster. The add on pipe that was the test was hampered by the heat of the day that did not exactly duplicate the earlier conditions for the stock setup.
I never did a side by side stock test between the bikes because nobody was interested.
The system used at Maxton with the 2 traps and 3 speeds originated with that test and is the best information available over that distance.
Doug would have loved to go just a tick faster at 200 but with the heat going up it was not to be that day.
With a shorter run at daybreak, and cooler conditions, He might have done it.
"I would rather lose going fast enough to win than win going slow enough to lose."
