Removing screen from air ducts (?)
« on: March 06, 2005, 11:19:25 AM »
(?) Will there be ANY difference in removing the screens from the intake ducts? I am considering doing the small box mod soon and wondered if doing this will contribute to something.

(?) I will try to do a stock exhaust mod soon, about how long can I go with out ANY exhaust connect, Just header, before there is a chance something can mess up?   thanks in advance.      -Royce

Yep there sure is.....the bigger bugs will get stuck in the air filter instead of on the screens.

I took the screens out for painting, and didn't put them back because the bike looked better without them.

I was thinking that as well.  I myself would think it would look great without it. Can you post pics of yours?

You can unbolt the cans and ride it around like that as much as you want. The cans are not the restriction in the stock exhaust system.

I didn't install my screens when I installed my Sharkskinz.

ahh nice thanks Kirk.  well I will just do it to see how it sounds. Screens emmm, I will see how I like them without. I don't suppose anyone sells 'just' a header? (aftermarket)

I had thought of a HMF FULL RACE Exhaust System in Dual 4X2 High Mount with Either 2 yoshimura Tri-Oval Race Cans in Carbon Fiber. Or 2 BigBird(have to get them to Modify it or Modify it yourself from the X(crossover to can(midpipes would have to be a larger Diameter))) Cans in Carbon Fiber.

Two cans is a bad idea. You'll pay as much for two slip-on mufflers as you would for an entire 4-into-1 exhaust system, and you won't gain any significant amount of power. It also won't be much lighter. A 4-into-1 exhaust will allow you to gain some power and lose some weight.
