Trac arm on 05 1000
« on: February 16, 2006, 12:53:22 PM »
Going to order the arm for my wife's 05 GSXR 1000.  Ordering it with a 6" adjuster.  Think I should go with 0-6" or 2-8"?  Bike will have a small shot on it and maybe stage one turbo later on.  Thanks.

If your keeping the stock arm you can always have it at "0". 2-8 will allow you to go longer if you choose. If you were thinking of selling the stock arm I wouldnt. It would be worth more on the bike if you ever go to sell and then sell the Trac Arm seperate.

Now if you are planning on running a class that requires a certain wheel base then that changes everything because the stock arm at a short length might hinder lowering the bike. Does that make sense? :D

I will always keep the stock arm like you said.  I know what you mean about selling it.  It would not up the sale value very much or at all with the Trac arm.  Better to sell the bike with the factory arm and get what I could out of the Trac arm.

I do not plan on running any classes with the bike.  It is my wife's bike, but I do ride it now and then.  So as far as lowering, you are saying I can get it lower with the Trac arm set at 0 versus the factory arm.

What class do they run stock wheel base in anyway.

How long can I go without loosing much handling ability of the bike.  Also, how long before an extended tail section would be needed to look proper.  Not looking to change the body or have the tires past the tail.  Thanks.
