hey guys. its been about 4years since i had to get rid of my 00 busa....

had a ton invested, polished ect. dumped it, fixed it , sold it, put vasoline on my ass!!lol.

well, im kinda itchin to get something else again .  im almost afraid to get another busa, cause i know i will want to mod it, this time instead of cosmetics, the motor!

so im kinda thinking on getting a "slower" bike like any of the current liter bikes.   im a sunny day flyer only, so the practicality of long rides ect. doesnt really matter. basically im leaning towards the gxr or yam.

i really love the way the r1 looks, and until the gxxr came out i thought it was the "best" 1k out there.

im looking for a fun bike thats got some balls but i know it will not beat the busa so im ok with that.

the only other thing im concerned about is a wheelie machine. and im 6'2" but im only 200lb. so im "skinny" .

I'd buy a gsxr1000 and you may be surprised at how fast it actually is. now they have the hp of the busa but weigh over 100 lbs less.
They still don't quite have the low end torque but it's right there when you look at power/weight

buy the one that looks the best to ya.......
performance wise....from 0 to 140 you can throw a blanket over'em...

cool. its  a hard decision. im a big suz. fan. not really big into kaws.

havent had a yam. but i really like the r1. it will probably be based on how each one feels when i sit on it, due to my height.

is the yam equall to the gsxr in hp??

WELL I'M A 5'10-11 300 LBDER AND I HAVE A BUSA DONE UP REAL PROPER LIKE! :D NOW I WANT A 05 GSXR 1000 FOR A EVERYDAY STREET BIKE SLAMMED A LIL ARM AND SEND IT TO LEE'S TO HAVE HIM PUT THE FUNK IN IT.BUT I THINK I MIGHT BE TO BIG.BUT I STILL MIGHT GET ONE,F@%K IT....

I'm 5'11" 265lbs and have an R1 as an everyday bike it fits great..and will take my big a$$ up to a buck seventy (that's all I have tried) on my gps without any difficulty - Bought a ZG touring bubble to help hind my frame from the the wind... Go For it..

you know whatever im gettin youll be tuning......  :)

what kinda numbers are the r1 and gxr putting down  at the wheel with the basic "tune job" . (can, free breathe ect.)

dont forget the kawi zx10 r plenty of power good looks ,  just limited color scheme but very comfortable ,also be aware the bikes you listed not 2nd rider friendly very uncomfortable , not sure if that was a consideration for you  just me 2 cents

I owned a 99 R1 for a few years and still own my 01 GSXR1000. After riding my GSXR1000 the very first time, I knew I wouldn't miss my R1 after I sold it. GSXR's have much better suspensions, better wind protection, are more stable at high-speed, produce more HP and are more comfortable. R1's look sleek but just don't quite measure up everywhere else. I enjoyed my R1 but it was superceded by the GSXR1000. :yes:

ill tell ya what. i compared the 2 bikes i had in question. 1st observation. since 2000. (last time i was somewhat into bikes)

they have made the whole CLASS a lot bigger. or more ergonomic for big guys 6'2".

i remember when i sat on a 2000 r1 i couldnt even get my legs into the gas tank curves. (easily).

and the bars were a lot further down up front. sorta like the tlr1000.

well, between the suzuki and the r1, i hate to say it, but i see an all black r1 in my future.....

as earlier model R1 owner the above is true. as new 04 owner, yamaha got there act together. it doesnt have low end of gsxr. and it has top end like 600. u have to rev it. we dyno'd back to back stock 05 and stock 04 and the hp difference was 1 hp(R1 made 1 more than gsxr). but the gsxr has nice smooth TQ that r1 doesnt. overall fit and finish, style and handling and best brakes in world(almost) i give it to yamaha.  REally either bike u cant go wrong. some are die hard suzuki riders and kawi and yami riders. any of them will make you happy.good luck on your choice.

yeah, i really used to be big into the "go fast" mines better than yours crap. when i had my busa.

in fact the reason im not getting another busa is because ill want to dump a ton of $$$ into it, turbo/big bore ect.

so i figure if i start off with a "slow" bike i know ill always get whooped on by the big boys so its ok.

i agree with longr1. they have radically changed the ride dimensions. honestly it doesnt feel "that differant" than the way my busa was....
