Thanks for all the help

I think I'll just push him to put a dry kit on it and be done with it.

A FORTY HP Dry shot hits strong and is cheap too. It would be best to be able to toggle between maps(street and Nos) when you push the button. I think A&J has a setup like that. Might be wise to get a better fuel pump for dry over 210HP. You will need to re-map with new fuel pump.
Good Luck and enjoy.

1270 kit with no other work makes about 180rwhp......

With small crank/cams/low compression(spray) makes 200+ on pump...

Dave

is that with a stock pipe :?:

my buddies is a stock motor with Muzzy pipe and PC and it makes 178hp

Thant would be about 4-6 more than average for the setup you are talking about...

Whatever the setup, I don't know why anyone expect anything much more than a 5.8% increase with a 1270 over the stock bore/stroke. For example, 180 before and 190 after excluding marginal benefits.

you've got to admit that's a lot of money to spend for 10hp

I agree completely. I was only commenting on why more is unlikely.

Particularly when fed by gitzy dyno numbers, smiles and assurances you are doing the right thing. Oh yea, do the "after" test at STD with what you aptly call designer gas. Now we be smookin!!!!!!!!!!!

My 1270 made 196 hp.  thats ported head muzzy cams, ultra lite crank etc. before hp ..pipr & pc made 182 hp. after thousands only 196 hp. you cant really pull much more out of the 1270 aparently. so  On that note I would not do It again.howecer with the forged pistons In the 1270 kit , you can spray more Im going 100 shot.  wet   .Its 60 to 70 max with stock pistons... save your money buy a wet kit and be done with It.

So you picked up 14 with the kit, cams and a ported head? I am not debating the kit but am interested in the results.

That Is correct... However The motor has been taken apart as we speak and the compression Is being raised a  point.  It was set low for the nos  .  ,We felt It was a little  too low, After only dynoing at 196..would like to pull a little more out of her On motor, And still spray lets say 75 shot . Instead of a 100 shot. Since not many are willing to race. Unless on motor Only. I will report On how much diffrence In hp the 1 point  of added compression gave me...

 Oh yeah ... from 12.5 to 13.5
