Steve was having some minor issues, I believe he was running in the mid two-teens, not 100% exact on the source of the problem but hopefully he'll have it worked out tomorrow.
Dave O. is the man, he is a very sincere and genuine guy, and offered to lend a hand where ever needed. Many thanks again Dave for helping us out today.
Speaking of Dave his bike is incredible, absolutely
the most impressive bike at Maxton in my opinion.
He was running solid high two.teens all day long naturally aspirated. Considering the fact that he build this bike, rides on the street regularly, it's a solid real streetbike with stock ECU, and runs mid two.teens ALL MOTOR, the horsepower-to-mph ratio here is incredible.
Yes there are other bikes running insanely fast speeds, no need to mention the Yancy build Bud-Busa that is frequently piloted into the mid-250 MPH range, but consider most of the really fast bikes are power-adder bikes, and in the case of the Bud-Busa making near 500 rwhp.
Dave's bike is all motor, running near nitrous speed bikes, very VERY impressive, and it's a "real streetbike". No $5,000 computer, just Dave and his trusty laptop and datalogger. THATS impressive.
Congrats to Guy who stepped it up and backed it up, resetting the unlimited nitrous record at 223+. I believe he said there is more in it, and hopefully on Sunday we'll see some higher numbers if the weather cooperates.
Today there was mostly mild headwinds and crosswinds, at some times gusts enough to shut down the course but nothing that lasted. As you can see by the photos, aside from the wind, the weather was perfect. There were very few occasions where we actually had a minor tail wind! Even though Wayne and Rich hussled to prep the bike for Lee to make a pass by the time they actually lined up the tailwind had switched directioned. Luck of the draw.
If there are any specific questions let me know I'll check the board in the morning and try to get the results tomorrow afternoon.
Oh last one, yes Lee brought his Busa but they were not spraying, all motor it was turning 212ish or there abouts all motor only. He did have some serious tire issues on the front and swapped it out twice. It was a handling issue they eventually diagnosed to the type of tire. Lee described the issue as sketchy, like it was floating, and Don agreed.
You know that if LEE SAYS ITS SKETCHY, the guy that runs 256 mph in the mile without blinking, then it's definitely got a problem. Dude wouldn't make an issue out of it if there wasn't a serious problem there. Anyway, Don and Lee were still wiring the bike early this morning and I don't think he was even planning on spraying it yet but if he does spray tomorrow I will let you know.
Track opens early Sunday, should start making passes at 8am.
More tomorrow...
