How much do you gain in MPH with a dry shot?
« on: June 05, 2005, 05:12:43 PM »
What is the typical increase for MPH gained with a 40HP dry shot? I saw between 8-10 MPH this weekend. This was the first time spraying. Hit the button as soon as I shifted to 2nd. Front end stayed down pretty good!  :)

Well, Eracer...The conditions this weekend were HORRIBLE! The temp was 86, the humidity 70%, and we had a terrible headwind. My best run on spray was a 9.28 at 153. This is with stock wheelbase, of course! On a good weather day, I think I could go in the teens at least. Maybe even 0's. This was my first weekend with the new clutch and the brick. I totally had to change my launch method. 1st 5 passes I bogged it because the clutch was so good and the extra 15 pounds under the bike! By the way, I weighed 186 before going to the track Saturday.  :D

i go from 137 motor to 145-147 spray.  that's with pretty big wheelies though.  maybe i need a brick or just learn to ride   .  that's also with a 42 jet

You should also try using a dual nozzle.

Sammmin..We have pretty much the same results..I also go 9.3's on motor (pump gas),and running stock arm and weigh 185 in street clothes..

I also just added 21lbs of ballast and went to the track last weekend and everyone was saying there were 4mph down from the usual..But I still went 9.16 but at only 156mph..I went 9.11 @160mph 5 times in a row last time out..I also have to re-learn the best way to come out with the newly added weight..tell you the truth,if it doesn't pan pout soon..Im taking it off!!

Or Bump the nitrous up a little more to 2 #30 jets??

I was getting 1.55's without it and the best I could do with it was 1.59!

The weight may slow your overall mph, but usually helps the 60's, which should translate into quicker et's.

E-racer, that's strange that the ballast isn't helping you out...  I've seen some decent improvement with mine (~17lbs), but still need some more practice.

I didn't notice any loss of trap speed with the extra weight, but I've had some issues with the bike as well.

Yes it will and should help..Im not saying thats the reason why I went slower MPH..it was a off day for everyone..

But I have to ride it different than I'm use to with the weight..Im going to give it a few more trys before deciding what to do.. :D

Damn Eracer..We sound like the same person. I also am having problems getting better 60 foot times with the brick. Ditto here, 1.55 or less before the brick, 1.59-1.68 with the brick. I had to totally change my launch method. I also lost MPH with the brick. I don't see any way you can't lose some MPH. I may switch to a dual nozzle set up in the future. We'll see!!

Does this mean I can finally see some mid 1.5 60' times if I remove the ballast?  :P

I'm a sucky rider, so it helps me.  I've still got some adjusting to do, but when my bike goes back together, it will practically be a whole different machine, so there will be a whole new set of issues.     One of these days I'll get it figured out...

pc II was maxed out, you would have to ask dragzooks about jetting and injection and ratio?

with the pc maxed out, how does the bike run in the gear(s) before you start spraying ? or do you spray as soon as you move ?
