work and play vehicles
« on: June 06, 2005, 04:59:37 PM »

It was a nice day out, was at work, had a nice digital camera I signed out from the armory, took some pics.  Got the BDE meg system, 16 tooth front sprocket, 2-7 extensions from spencercycles, TMH undertail, PC3usb, BMC race filter, Muzzy lowering links, gutter guard fairing screens, stock length chain guard from Tiger Racing(I know I need a longer one), clear alternatives turn signals and integrated tail light, Harris busa grips.

I'm human just like everyone else, I got my needs and urges.  I just fulfill them at the track.   I don't take my weapons home, leave em at the armory, my dog stays at the kennels......air force rules......liability issues.

Nice bike, like the pipe, reminds me of the old days of the KZ900 drag set up with the kerker header pipe with the baffle removed of course. All fun placed aside for a moment> appreciate you and your fellow buddies over there for what you are doing for us over here> your dedication does not go un-noticed here on this end :kickass:

thanks, really appreciate it.  my brother is in Iraq now, he's also a K-9 handler except he's a marine.  my parents have been going through hell with two of their sons deploying opposite each other.  when he gets back I'm due to go again.

Stupid question, but, where did you get your screens for your fairing?  Everytime I buy screens, I see something better and of stronger quality.  And when I get something that I think looks half decent, there's something out there that is a little more chromed out.

Could you possibly tell me where you bought your screen mesh at?  And if you could tell me the gauge as well, that would be very helpful.  I appreciate any information you could give.

Thanks, Ty

Sorry for not responding sooner, been out of the loop for a bit.  Ty, I used plain old gutter guard from Lowes.  shaped and cut the pieces out, applied heat resistant epoxy.  not very blingy but I like it better than the gaping holes look.

Nice! Appreciate your selfless service.

thank you for your support BigBSBusa, makes it all worth while and gets us through the rough times.

these pics were taken when I was at Little Rock AFB Arkansas.  I'm now stationed at Charleston AFB, SC.  I've polished the frame and swingarm since then.  I will never polish again.....took me 6 months before I was somewhat happy.  Did it all with just my bare hands.  Been meaning to put up pics of the changes but camera has been on the brink.

my tour was only for 6 months, July-December.  I went on a bunch of missions with you guys looking for the bad guys and their weapons caches.  I gotta say, you Army folk sure do know how to make an AF K-9 team feel safe outside the wire.  Everywhere I walked I had a platoon circling me at all times to protect me and my dog.  I felt bad for your guys there that had been in the AOR so long that their uniforms were falling apart.  Right before I left I gathered up as many serviceable DCUs, boots, and gear from my AF counterparts and donated them to a bunch of Army soldiers who were in serious need of them.  One SFC I worked with regularly mentioned how he would've loved to have a DCU gortex jacket.  I took off mine and gave it to him since I was going home anyway.  I wanted to do so much more to say thanks for keeping my dog and I safe.  The Army really impressed me that tour.

  :USA:
Just as we were getting replaced by the 101st, October / November 04, we had a convoy get hit by an IED.  In the vehicle was a female AF Dog Handler and her dog.  It was a beautifull animal, not a common breed.  I had met them the day before at the vets office.  Well, sadly the dog was killed in a most horrific manner.  Not much better was the Handler.  She lived, but will spend the better part of her life in hospitals and attached to machines.

Yes, it was sad.
All in all, it was a good tour.  Only a few sad events like that.  For all the bad press the GW and Rumsfeld are getting over the Iraq war, always remember that it is safer in Iraq than it is in Chicago / New York / Los Angeles / etc., etc., etc...

I am quite sure that my mother, my wife, and my children would find solace in my death knowing it was on the field of battle than at the hands of a drunk driver.
