« on: June 10, 2005, 05:06:24 PM »
Howdy, Heads UP, Just heard from Texas Mile people and they maybe just doing one day for the July 05 event. Due inpart to lower than usual turn out because of the  :1: heat. :(

If your going or thinking about going please just put a post up. I gave them the site info and they will possibly be checking to get an estimated count of the number of people interested.

If you have any questions or for last minute stuff check out TexasMile.com
and shoot them an e-mail or contact them at (281) 802-9863 Shannon (817) 243-2286 Deanna.

My brother and myself are probably going. Brother 2000 red and gray Busa  , myself green ZX-12   touch of NOS on each looking for 200mph

Dang, thought that would happen.

Thought if we got a few more people to show it might
have helped, guess not.

It realy has not been to bad this year so far, most days
are in the low to mid 90's. Probably in another month it
will be in the mid to upper 90's with only about 60-70%
humidity. On the Tarmac only low to mid 100's.

That sucks for BBB as I am sure he is use to the heat.
I had some friends come here from Phoenix and they
actually said they were cold  . It was in the low
90's that day.

I guess the rest of us Joto's can't handle the heat. :1:

Hey BBB, my bro lived in El Paso a few years back, and He says there are some nice straight smooth back roads between there and Yuma, great for those land speed tests.

He let me take his Busa out on this one 10mi desert strip, that was my first induction to real speed. 8)

Hope to see ya out in Oct., I am sure it will still be in the low 90's upper
80's. :P

Cool, it will be nice to see some Big Guns come in to do 200+,
it has been a while since I have seen any bike go that fast. You
would think we were living in the land of tea and crumpets and
not the U.S.

Drop in and say hi if ya see us there in October. Two fat boys,
one 6'6" riding red and gray Busa the other 6' on a green thing.
Both still searching for 200mph.

Well, if Goliad is going to be too hot in July, will they cancel Bonneville in August?

70 plus years and even a little moisture in the salt never stopped them.

Last year or two there was one meet at El Mirage where it was 113 degrees...only about 130 in the Black Custom Bates Leathers...

Most assuredly the attendance thing is a very big issue
and I cannot blame them at all. I have personally tried
to spark up a little enthusiasm in my local area.

On the other hand if it is 100-104F on the tarmac and
60-80% humidity the heat index is as significant if not
more than an arid environment at 115F. I am not trying
to compare the to areas or venues.  :P

Hope to see you all in Oct.

Bummer man. But then again it is an oven out there in leathers when it's 130 on the asphalt. Looking forward to October.

its all perspective. numbers being down are the obvious reason from the outside. hope Oct still happens
