...like a Busa engine can?

And the mileage, I know one guy who has 20K on his 03' Busa
but he is burning a drop of oil after he lugs it for awhile then
gets on it.
But I have read of Busa owners who have 50K miles or better
and dont have any issues.

Lastly how might the cost of rebuild be between these 2 engines?

About the same, less?  How easy is it to yard the engine out of the 1K?

Run it hard, no drags just lots of high rpm action, hard roll ons.

And lots and lots and lots of miles of this.

i bet you won't have a problem with either (i have a 1000 at this time).  i think the busa has a better engine for buliding but dont think you will have a problem with either for what you are wanting.  the gsxr line of engines have proven themselves.  i love my 1000 so far.  it reminds me much of a stock busa engine.  not as much Tq of couse but i think the lack of weight makes up for it.  feels lot like it.

If you are leaving the engine stock you will not have any problems.  I was thinking of turbo or nitrous.

BentValve,
Yanking the motor is gravy.  I just re-bought my 02 GSXR1K from the guy I sold it to, he paid the wrong person to put an intake cam on the exhaust side and it hurt the motor.  I yanked it and it's almost ready to go back in.

Everything is smaller & lighter on the 1000.  My parts pile wasn't much either.  I could lift the motor up off my garage floor and lay it on my work bench.  I tried that with a Busa motor once - forget it.

I met a guy at the last MIR race in MD who had a 021K, he races it a lot and I asked him about it.  My concerns were the same as yours - would I hurt this thing?  I've dragraced my Busa almost constantly for the last 12 months, and between changing the oil and cleaning the clutch, I've never hurt it.

He performs the same 'after-race' routine and hasn't hurt the 1K either.

Good luck and hope this helps.

28k on a 01, with over 12k on a built motor. I ride it hard. Change the oil and filter prolly to frequently and do the maintenance required. Has been bullit proof.
