I dont think so, The 05 1000 frame is a little larger due to the head/pistons being larger.

I believe the 05 frame is actually 5mm narrower then the 01-04 frame.  They moved the outside 2 tb 5mm closer to eachother because of the narrower frame.  It is all just specultion.  I don't think any one has tried it yet.  Any thing is possible with a little time and fabrication.  people put the 01-04 1000 motor in the 01-03 600 and 750.  I have even seen a 01-04 1000 motor in a 97-99 gsxr 750.  Busa motor in a 1000.

please tell me more john.
My main question right now is if a 05 1000 crank will work in 03 1000 cases.  My crank is shot.  I blew up my built 02 1000 motor.  I have some 03 1000 cases coming.  My crank is pretty bad and it will probably be cheaper to buy a used one then fix mine.
Also I was told that the 05 1000 crank was supposed to be stronger.  I know of a 05 1000 crank for a decent deal if the guy still has it.  I don't want to buy it if it wont work and it is not a good of enough deal to try it if I don't know if it will work.  I know you posted up earlier that the 01-04 rods will work in 05 1000 motor, but the wristpin diameter is different so custom pistons would need to be made if you wanted to use the 01-04 rods in 05.  So the journals are the same.
