Valve clearance measured using Web cams
« on: November 10, 2002, 05:39:00 PM »
I was surprised but pleased, to find only 3 intake clearances that were out of spec after installing my .378"/.330" Web cams and they just missed it by .001"! The chart below shows exactly what the measured clearances were after installing my Web cams.

Measured Exhaust Clearances

.009" .008" .010" .010" .010" .010" .010" .010"

Cylinder#1 - Cylinder#2 - Cylinder#3 Cylinder#4

.007" .005" .005" .005" .005" .003" .003" .003"

Measured Intake Clearances

From what I had heard, I was expecting them to be much worse. Actually, I consider these damn good!

Web suggests the intake be set to 106 degrees and the exhaust set to 108 degrees.

Has anyone tried them at these settings?

How were they?

How was the idle?

Any other suggestions from anyone who's actually using these cams?

Naturally I'll be bringing the .003" clearances up to .005". I'll bring the .007" intake down to .006" by swapping with a shim that's coming out and I'll bring the .008" exhaust up to .009" to .010".

I installed 81mm 12.3:1 JE Pistons with these Web cams. Just waiting for the new shims to arrive before I can fire this puppy up.

JohnnyCheese, you didn't say what the other settings you used were? I'm listening...

with that size bore I would go 104 or 105 on intake and 106-107 on exhaust
