America's fastest streetbike competition in 2006
« on: December 21, 2005, 09:14:15 PM »
For those of you that are not regular readers of Super Streetbike we just announced in the last issue that we are holding a top speed challange at Maxton during the September 2006 meet. (24-24th)

More info will be coming later but I am asking all of you to help by promoting this on the various boards. We need to get a lot of the fast people there so this will be a legit competition.

Here is the announcement that was in the last issue.

More info and rules to follow

Super Streetbikečs First-Annual Top Speed Shootout
Think youčve got a fast streetbike? Well, prove it! Join us at the Maxton
Monster Mile next September for our first-annual top speed shootout, where
wečll crown the fastest streetbikes in America!

Wečre on a quest to find the fastest streetbikes in America, and we want to
give you a chance to claim this most prestigious title. Organized in
conjunction with the East Coast Timing Association at the world-famous
Maxton Monster Mile in Maxton, North Carolina on the weekend of Sept. 23-24,
2006 (rain date: Oct. 28-29), our Top Speed Shootout will pit bikes in six
separate classes against each other to see who has the fastest bikes in
America measured by top speed posted on Maxtončs standing start, one-mile
course. Bikes will be eligible to race in six classes: 600cc all motor;
600cc plus one power adder (nitrous, turbo or supercharger); 1000cc all
motor; 1000cc plus one power adder; unlimited cc all-motor; and unlimited cc
plus one power adder.

To encourage the hot-rodding spirit, rules will be
virtually anything goes. The class displacements refer to the engine cases
only‹if you can get 800ccs out of a 600 motor and keep it together youčre
eligible for the 600cc class. All bikes will need to conform to the ECTA
safety rules, otherwise anything goes! In addition to the six classes
outlined above, there will also be a target mph contest with an award going
to the rider who breaks the timing beam closest to 150.000 mph, making
virtually anyone with a sportbike able to get involved in this contest.

Winners will each receive an łECTA/Super Streetbike Fastest Streetbike in
AmericaČ riding jacket and, of course, the undeniable bragging rights the go
along with owning one of the indisputable fastest bikes in the country. Keep
watching this space for more information, or log on to www.ecta-lsr.com to
view the complete Top Speed Shootout rules and find out everything you need
to know to get started building your bike up to win this event. We look
forward to seeing you in Maxton next September!

Sorry but there is not a V twin class at this time. Since the event is being promoted by and written up in Super Streetbike magazine they are trying to stick to sportbikes. Since that is their main (only market)

However you could enter it in the 150 mph index class if you want !!

What I really need is all of you to promote this on all the different webpages. I just cant make it in all of them
zx-12
zx-10
bikeland
hayabusa.org
R1
r6
cbr

etc etc

Can any of you help me by taking my post above and reposting it?

Sounds cool, but them sand and dirt boys might get a little upset
about that fastest street bike title. :P :P :P

Wish I could make it out, to watch.

They should realy seperate the power adders class into
Nos or turbo. Don't think many supercharged Busas
will show. Maybe a fat boy class too.

i wonder if any of the west coast heavy hitters will show? time to put  their money where their mouth is!! :D :D
ive been to maxton, scared the shit out of myself and have no need to go back!!!
it was cool when i went as the first rider down the track sat morning. i was held at the line as a ford pickup drove down the track honking its horn. i asked the starter why is he honking ? the starter replied" hes honking to scare the deer away. have a good run the course is yours"

We would have liked to had different classes rather than just one catch all power adder but complexity, timing, rules, deadlines, magazine schedules, my time, unsure of number of entrants etc all got in the way.

If we have 20 bikes in each class I am sure the magazine will spring for a NOS and a TURBO class in 2007. I for one and just glad to see it being done at all.

I have tried for two years to get a big magazine interested and they all said no until SSB came out this year. So make sure you subscribe to the magazine and email your support to the editor. Aaron Frank.

He is a great guy to work for and thanks to him this is finally going down.

IT THINK IT SHOULD BE AT TEXAS IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE BETTER AND SAFER
ALSO THINK ONLY DOT STREET TIRES AND NOT WEIGHT BALLLAST SHOULD BE ALLOWED
NO SINGLE PHASED CRAP THAT MAKES A DANGEROURS ROAD BIKE

Actually I think it should be at Edwards Air Force Base but it was already booked that weekend.

We are not going to have any tire rules other than what is already in place at MAxton. I would not want to force someone on a 250mph bike to run dot tires then have a failure. Maxton has had ZERo tire failures on the track with their current rules so why fix something that is not broken.

And external weight and jockeys will be prohibited. That will be release in a future set of rules in the next issue of SSB magazine.
