Anyone have the Schematic of modding the GPS
« on: February 04, 2006, 12:35:33 PM »
I have seen some people mod the GPS so that the bike thinks it is in 5th gear when it is in 6th, this removes the top speed restriction with out messing with the lower gear fuel maps. Does anyone have the directions for doing this yourself?
Thanks Brent

so off a guess I would say to just go to radio shack and get the resistor, and instead of wiring it into the Pink wire to the Black wire with the resistor in between, you would put the resistor inside the GPS  only on the 6th gear wire.

Or just move the 6th gear wire to the 5th gear wire in the sensor.

I have Johnnnycheese's GPS mod. It works better than a TRE because it lets each gear have the proper ignition curve and fuel map.

I didnt think about that before, would be the easiest. Just wire the 6th imput to the 5th output. I bet that would work fine, all gears would work and it would just think its in 5th hmm nice idea.

Or just move the 6th gear wire to the 5th gear wire in the sensor.

Wouldn't that restrict 5th gear like 6th?  So you would only REV to 10,600 in 5th.... :(

When you put the bike in 5th it would think its in 5th, then when you click it up to 6th it would still think its in 5th. 1-4 would work the same as they do now.

And I'm sure that you have seen this one as well:

thats what I was needing! All a person would have to do is replace the resistor for 6th gear with a 6800 ohm resistor!
or better yet, remove the resistor for 6th, and run jumper wires to the 5th gear position on the sensor :D This way cash outlay is $0 :D

end product will look like this I am guessing, What do you all think?

Hi guys,

Is there any difference in the ignition mappings for 5th and 6th gears.  By making the ECU think that 6th gear is 5th gear, the rev limiter at 11K rpm  in 6th gear is removed.  However, is the 5th gear map richer in the fuel curve compared to the 6th gear map ?  or is it the same ?   Is the pickup better or worse at 6th gear using the 5th gear ignition mapping in the lower rmp range ?

Anyone knows.. thanks.
