I want to dragrace my 06 1k.......I am concerned about the clutch!  Will it hold up, or should it be changed?  It will be lengthened 6" and -1ft +2 rear.  Is that the best setup.....I weigh 220lbs.  Whats the best 1/4 with it stock......I read all the mags, just wanted to know what everyone really running.

The 1000's are very, very fast, but get used to changing the clutches a lot. Stay with the stock clutches, don't go aftermarket. -1 front, +3 in the rear start with that, although i know of some guys that are 1-/+5.

After 2 or 3 runs, pop off your oil cap to let it cool down quicker.  I can't really say what to expect of you and the bike,  cause i know 3 people with 1000's that were ok to begin with and are now way faster with practice.

Got one friend with your same mods (on an 04), but with and intake cam mod (so it's close to the 05's power) and he's doing 6.30's at 118 with just a low 1.6 60 foot. Also, that is in SoCal so drop 2-3 tenths if you're on the east coast.

my buddy with an 06, stretched 2-7 (out at about 6), stock gearing, bmc filter, full yosh system and pciiiusb with stock map (not for exhaust and filter) went 6.40's at over 120mph in the 1/8th with only a 1.68 60ft...

and we found that the clutches suck... ordered a new clutch pack as soon as we got home...

my 04 1000, full brock system, bmc, no PC, @ 60" went 6.60's at 118... i need some fuel in that pig... pc is on the way, and it needs gear...

Thanks for the information!  Any suggestions on a clutch....I hear Brock's seems to be the best.  I'd like to get his drag header but I cant find any performance info on it.....anyone know?

we are just running upgraded springs (barnett) and a stock clutch pack.. maybe get the brock mod soon to eliminate chatter

just keep it cool and adjusted properly, plenty of guys were going low 1.5 60's low 4.0 330's last year with no mods
