Supercharged K5 GSXR 1K Spaghetti
« on: February 08, 2006, 03:11:02 AM »
Almost done with the supercharged nitrous 2005 GSXR 1000, and wiring up the PC3USB, Ign. Module, Wideband Commander, and nitrous... jeez... how much crap can I fit in the itty bitty trunk of the GSXR? Well, all of it, plus a 1 lb. NOS bottle!! The bottle fit with a little trimming of the subframe under the right hand side of the tail fairing, and left enough room for the solenoid and valve to be accessible. That freakin' wideband commander has so many freakin' leads, and definitely not designed with a motorcycle in mind.

What I've got left:
-Redesign the up-pipe (I want to get it tighter)
-Mount air intake
-Put tail/tank back on
-Finish machining pulleys
-Trim right fairing
-Tune (such an innocuous little word for such a big job)

So I should be tuning her by this weekend, and I hope to be riding her at the Texas Mile.

This bike should put down in the mid-400s with NOS. Hehehe...

What all have you done to the motor to hold 400 hp?

Oh, motor's been done too already. Carillo H-beams, JE Pistons, slightly thicker head gasket from Cometic, HD head bolts (just in case), slightly stiffer valve springs, and a little human blood, just because I cut my goddamn finger on that little machining lip on the generator rotor.

And I agree, 240 is about the limit of a stock GSXR 1K.

Look at those sexy shiny pistons and rods... mmmm... shiny.... Oh, just as a fun fact, I was over having some Ti welded at a local engine shop, and they had the "old" Ferrari F1 Flat 12 motor chilling there, and next year's Alfa Romeo V8. SOOOO hot.

Oh, Wheel base I'm keeping as is...  Just for off-NOS applications. Boost puts the bike right at around 300hp. For drag racing, the customer wants a wheelie bar, rather than extended swingarm.

Yeah, they're JEs. I'm right at 10:1 right now with the pistons and thicker head gasket. I think I'll be alright.

I believe it's closed deck. I left a message at Cometic just now asking them. I totally don't remember, and I didn't think specifically to check.

 :lmao:

I did the exact same thing on my busa. As soon as I realized what had happened, that fucking rotor went into the lathe. Few things in life hurt like getting sliced by oily metal.

No trans mods at this point. Once I play with her a little, I'll see if she needs 'em.

Those rods in the picture are A beams not H beams and the stock pistons are gorgeous I wished JE would produce a similar style but with some compression and a bigger bore (for Hayabusa) Your supercharged project is really neat a differnt route that I would love to try

You're quite right, they are A beams - I have some H beams going into the R1. Stupid brain, getting all sorts of confused on me. Freakin' annoying today, I got the belt and pulleys in today, and while the pulleys fit right, the guys set me a 29" instead of 19" belt! DAGNABBIT!!

Quasar - I think you're talking about the Magna Charger kit for the V-max. I actually met the guy who designed that kit, and his exact words were, "I can't believe they actually marketed and sold that piece of crap. It was a one shot attempt, and it ran like crap."

These blowers are rather quiet, especially when we get them totally under the fairings (only the stage 1s). FAR more efficient than the blowers on those Magna chargers too - what type of belt was he running? This uses an 8m x 20 HTD Belt - we haven't had any issues whatsoever with the belts (other than not getting the right size last week, of course).

Supergrizz,

Question, are you going to use bigger injectors ?

Yes, we're running larger webber injectors - they fit perfectly, and just require us to splice in Bosch connectors.

What is the current status of the supercharge system?  I have gone to your website many times over the past year, and just see that 03-04 black&silver.

How many guys here are running a supercharger?
I rule by day and by night!!!

how about a picture of the bottle mounted and the modifications needed to get it there. i am in process of installing and hiding
bottle on my bike and have had several bottles sent to me. i have 2 10oz. and 2 7oz that i was going to set side by side.
i would rather just use 1 1lb bottle if you can show me what you did.....the 10 oz. bottle are just to long and would require me to remove
the tail everytime i needed to refill it. the 7oz.ers show up tomorrow to check....thanks in advance and i look forward to seeing some big numbers...brent

I'm in Texas pulling my hair out over resistors. I'll post a bunch of pics when I'm back home of the install - basically, I trimmed out the subframe with a die grinder to make more room for the bottle.

As for the website, I just need an hour or two to update all the pics.

can the bottle be removed without having to take the subframe apart?

Yeah, but you have to take the tail plastics off. To fill it, I've got a fill tube of the valve.

I started a topic about supercharged bikes and someone directed me to this forum...tried to email you about your kits and got no response yet, was wishing to speak with you about doing a supercharged busa.  Check the hits on my posting at http://www.suzukihayabusa.org/forum/index.php?topic=87866.0
