06 busa 06 zx14 head to head numbers....
« on: February 16, 2006, 10:35:14 PM »
This is from the other site.;..I have a Busa but  :bah:

During a top secret test in Phoenix Arizona, with whether conditions, a beautiful 80 degrees with an adjusted altitude of 1800 ft.........a 2006 Hayabusa and a 2006 Kawasaki ZX14 were run head to head, both with 800 miles on them, both with stock gearing, stock pipes, stock height, stock tires(same air pressure),stock settings on chassis, same gas out of same jug(pump), and same rider(me)
alternating between both bikes after 4 runs a piece.

After 4 runs on the Hayabusa, a baseline ET of 9.92@ 141.55 (STOCK HEIGHT)

4 runs on the ZX14 netted a baseline of 9.77 at 145.89

after 6 sets of 4 runs a piece ,the best numbers looked like this
Hayabusa           ZX
1.66                 1.66
4.31                 4.34
6.34                 6.27
114.44 mph       117.10 mph

9.901@142.00    9.755@146.20   STOCK HEIGHT!!!!!!!

Without being biased, if anyone ever gets a chance to ride the 2 bikes, one behind the other, you too will be amazed at how much of a difference you feel in acceleration.
The 06 Busa is still a respectable and capable motorcycle!

will post pics around Monday or Tuesday

Sound about right its makin slightly more power . But When they redo the Busa this year I dunno I was hopin that the 14 would run a little better than that to be honest so that the new Busa would have to be better but the 14 altho faster it aint just leaps and bounds faster its just a hair faster. It will be good racin I guess this year. But I thought it would really be a lot faster.from what there saying there its not earth shattering and there comparing it to an old bike I mean was the Busa so advanced that in 7 years thats all the better anyone can do???? Dont get me wrong its faster but not that much...IMO

I am not surprised at the times or speeds of the new ZX-14. I expected that much, after all it is a 1350cc bike. I am sure if you put a 1363 in the Busa  now your back in the game, and maybe a little faster.  I think it is great that Kaw has stepped up.  I mean come on, it's not as much fun going to the track and seeing 10 or 20  busa's and  one or two 12R.  Having the ZX- 14 out there will make for more competition, that all.. And I am willing to bet it will make the Busa rider step up their game and run better. I know when I race someone that I think might have a faster bike, the better I run.  That why I usually like to race against wheel bar bikes because I know when they take off, you have to be ready..  so keep your heads up my fellow Busa owners and let the games begin...

1.66 short is AWEFULLY good for stock height.  Must have been a clutch slid'n fool. I think my best ever stock height was a 1.72 and that was wheelying.

I would hope that ZX14 would run atleast 145mph.  Any stock busa will go 140-142 with an average weight/skill rider.  ZX14 should have 15-20+ rwhp so...simple physics
2000 turbo-busa, RCC Stg 2 intercooled, 319hp@14lbs(pump gas), 435hp@28lbs
Texas Mile March 09, 225.906 mph, 8.82@168.43 w/1.63 60'-14lbs

2013 BMW S1000rr, Brocks CT exh, 185hp

I posted this in bike talk forum...
Go back and look at the stock numbers.  Kawai spent how much for THOSE gains!  Who in their right mind is gonna drop another $11K for that kind of gain.  Keep the busa spend $1K or so and get the same gain.  With those numbers, its gonna be the rider not the brand.  And I still say give em both 3 or 4 thousand to spend on mods and then be the judge.  Those numbers don't even really qualify for bragging rights.

be careful.... 9.36 slammed with STOCK gearing, stock pipe and stock wheelbase can very easily become 8.9x's with just a pipe and gearing change.....  don't take my word...ask your favorite tuner....

That bike is not 100% bone stock!!!  It's not radical by any means though.  It's lowered, re-geared, PCIII, and a full exhaust (to my knowledge)...  I wonder where his old butt was today?  I haven't talked to him in a while.

BigChief that's real and I can't wait to see it on the track with all of these guys out that that doesn't have a stock busa or anything else out there carrying anything stock. That bike will get beat up on a regular basic and that's the real deal. Ricky put up some good numbers, but he's the man, now lets see what the average ride does with the bike. BusaMike running 9.75 on a stock motor Busa right now lowered, now give him some spreay and still the 14 is lost again.
