Lightweight Hayabusa owners?
« on: February 18, 2006, 07:20:59 PM »
When I bought my Hayabusa, it was because the bike offered things that no other bike did. It seemed like most of us were kind of pushing the envelope. The South Florida guys would be a good example. So would Dennis. I got my expert road racing license on mine.

Nowadays, it seems like it's all about stretching and lowering the bike, chroming everything, and riders who don't ride. Buy a frickin' harley if you're just going to pose. Look at some of the topics that we've had lately- chrome grips, colored re-tread tires- give me a break. I don't care what kind of wax you use.

How many of us are there here anymore who have held the throttle to the stop on an unrestricted or de-restricted Hayabusa until the bike just won't go any faster? How many of us are there here anymore who have gotten a knee down? How many have done it with a passenger?

Riding is a personal experience.  What works for you may not work for the next guy.  It's cool to me as long as you ride  :)

Stretched, lowered and/or chromed isn't my thing since I take my bikes to the occasional track day or nice trip to TN/NC/GA.    Suspension work for my weight, better grade of tires, improve the brake system and some basic mods for power and comfort.    Last time I wore my Z's, the kneepucks earned their keep.
When in doubt, gas it.   It may not solve the problem but it will end the suspense.

Freedom is about choices that do not hurt others.
Ridng is the same. No matter how you ride and what you ride, what is important is that you enjoy it and you don't hurt nobody.

I am not for big fancy chrome jobs, I like essential bikes with powerful engines (Sometimes I wish they made a stock naked busa!!!!) but I do admire people that fancy sparkles on their bikes. Not everybody have a bike to push it to the limit. Some like to enjoy the ride itself. Some like to take it to extreme.

We all have something that somebody else regards as ridicuolus, useless, or crazy. Who cares, as far as they do not bother me!!!

my 2 cents

Cheers

Different strokes for different folks!  It helps make motorcycling what it is today.

Hell we can't all put 180's on our busas :P

Never had a knee down, I would think that type of riding with a passenger would be inconsiderate for the passenger.  If you ever see me with my knee on the ground, look out cause the rest of me is getting ready to hit the ground also.

While chrome's not my thing, I appreciate a nice looking bike.

Few people that own a Busa even come close to using it to its potential.  But the reality is I can say the same thing for most people that own an SV-650.

I've never derestricted mine, but I've been to the limiter enough times that I stopped counting about 20,000 miles ago.  Its cool, but I don' t live for it and its not really killin' me to go that much faster, so I went 3 up on the rear.

Gettin' a knee down?  After two track schools and several tracks days... again, I've stopped counting.

Just seems to me like there's all sorts of riders on Busa's, just like other bikes.  No need to judge them... unless you're willing to be judged.  'cause the reality is, at the end of the day, there is always someone with more skill and/or a faster bike... or with more bling!!  :?

So just enjoy doin' what ya do.

The Busa makes a decent platform for any style of riding, I have an appreciation for both road racing and drag racing!!! so what does this make me? :P I can only afford one bike at this point in time so I am setting it up for the twisties and hopefully a few track days this summer!!! If I had the funds I would have a straight line beast in the stable also!!
