Hmm...what kind of tires should I pick next time...

Looks like only one choice. Well actually, since Pirelli/Metzeler markets identical tires with slightly different tread patterns under two different brand names, I guess that technically would be two choices. But you know what I mean.

The Pirelli Corsa Diablo had a good write up in one of the latest bike mags.  They have some new whiz-bang machine that makes them without a joint and is supposed to be better than sliced bread.  No idea how they would compare to the "street" Rennsports but probably very similiar.

They are a step down from the street compound Rennsport/Supercorsa. But so is everything else.

My friend sent me this tire comparo that was posted on an Aprilia board he connects to. The tire comparo ranked the Pirelli Diablo Corsa's just slightly higher than the Metzeler Rennsport's. Here's how they ranked them...

As some of you may remember, I posted on how great I thought the new Pirelli Diablo Corsa tyres are, well MCN have tested all the major tyre brands and here are their results...

SPORTS TYRES

1st Pirelli Diablo 95%
2nd Metzeler Sportec M1 90%
3rd Bridgestone BT012 87%
4th Avon Azaro SP 83%
5th Dunlop D208 79%
6th Michelin Pilot Sport 78%
7th Continental Contiforce Max 77%
8th Tomhawk Road 58%

PERFORMANCE TYRES

1st Pirelli Diablo Corsa 100%
2nd Metzeler Rennsport 98%
3rd Bridgestone BT012ss 91%
4th Avon Azaro SP Pro series 88%
5th Dunlop D207RR 87%
6th Michelin Piolt Race H2 82%
7th Tomahawk Race 39%

Kirk, for you, is there any better tire than the Rennsport? Go with new Rennsport's, you know you love em, for crying out loud, WE ALL KNOW YOU LOVE EM!

Besides, we wouldn't want to hear you crashed because you decided to try some other inferior tire.

I love your Rennsports too.

Nick- I don't wanna try 208s. That Mladin thing was kinda spooky. I go way faster than that, and I'm like .00001% of the rider that he is. Besides, I watched a guy throw down a Super Chicken about five feet in front of me on 208 race tires. We weren't even going that fast.

Dwight- That's not the only tire that I like. I like the Supercorsa also.

Post the article or a link or something. That's great that the Diablo Corsa is a great tire also, but I haven't seen any on the podium yet.

Sorry, I don't have the link Kirk. My friend cut and paste the outcome of the tire comparo so I could see how it stacked up because I was considering BT012SS's or Sportec M-1's. I went with the Sportec's and they feel much better than the BT010's I've been using! Rennsport's and Pirelli's are just too expensive for my limited funds at this time although I'd love to try them.

A difference of only 2% could be more of a subjective difference rather than actual so that leaves both the Rennsport's and the Pirelli Diablo Corsa's in the winner circle.

Kirk, you've been telling us the Rennsport's are great tires and that tire comparo supports your claims. I thought you'd appreciate their findings. Apparently, you couldn't go wrong purchasing either tire.

Thanks but I'll take my Sportecs new for $200.  Best tire  for the money  in my humble opinion.
