Renew standard rod bolt when rebuilding??
« on: March 20, 2006, 01:58:14 PM »
I have done a search but couldn't find the answer...

I am in the process of rebuilding my 1397 engine and want to know if I should renew the rod bolts (I have standard rods), the manual doesn't say to replace them but I want make sure! Was going to do it anyhow but at £7 ($12) a bolt it's not that cheap if it really isn't necessary. Then again spending £70 (vat+postage) and replacing them is cheaper than trashing an engine cos I should have done it in the first place!!!  The engine is used in lightweight car, mainly on the roads, sometime on a track.

Thanks

Replace them. It's cheap insurance.
