Swapping a shock spring

Can you change a shock spring yourself or does it have to be sent off to be done? I don't have one to look at right now, so I thought I would ask. Thanks......

I got a spring compressor here if you respring your 1k shock.(with a stock length/heavier 1k spring)The Busa spring is shorter,so if you put it on the 1k shock,you can do it all by hand...
