03 starter issues
« on: April 21, 2006, 11:28:15 PM »
Ok I have a 03 busa and having some weird starter problems, It starts fine when the bike is cold but once it gets hot from normal riding the starter wont even roll the motor over,I borrowed a friends starter that has about 300 miles on it and still does the same thing.Just wondering if anyone else has come across this before or knows what to look for next.

Thanks in advance.Tom

Sounds more like you're describing a battery on it's last legs... That's where I'd start.

Well thats what I was kind of thinking but it only does this when its hot so I wasnt sure.and I can hook up jumper cables to try and start it when it starts to act like this and it makes no difference.

Yep that is the battery that is in there (14s) it was in there when I purchased the bike last September and I had the same issues then as well,I put my volt meter on it just to check and make sure it had good voltage and was charging and everything checked out ok.Obviously this is a common problem with this battery ? What is it , it just cant take the heat or no idea.

Cool thanks for the info, since my friend owns a shop here in town I will see if he will let me throw in a new battery and get it hot to see if my problem still persists and go from there.

Thanks  for the info and some soul for you :D
