I met Brian Hana only 4 weeks ago at the track (Byron). He has an '05 with a Velocity Stg2 and was trying to work out some bugs. He came to me humbly asking for some teflon tape for a plug in his up pipe, and asked if the 1/16" hole (wide open hole) would cause a boost leak, because he wasn't seeing more then 1lb of boost. I smiled at him and said, well lets take a look
Brian was new to turbos obviously, and absolutely claimed to know nothing more then it was fun to ride. Brian asked for some coaching on tuning and riding and I was honored to lend a hand. He came around so fast, from running 10.0's one weekend to 9.10 just this past weekend (only two weeks later).
Brian was newly engaged (Christina), he was riding her 250 street bike home from work when a pickup failed to yield at a stop sign, broadsiding him. Brian was life flighted and passed enroute to the hospital.
I called Brian this evening about an hour ago to see if he wanted to get back to the track this coming weekend and got his voice mail. My phone rang about an hour later and Christina was on the other end, I knew immediately something was wrong and she told me what happened.
Brian wasn't a member here, but he was the most humble young man I've ever met and it was an honor to lend him a hand and call him a new found friend. Christina told me Brian said he was disappointed because he didn't run in the eights and thought he let me down, but I say with an open heart I've never been so proud of a person accomplishing so much in so little time.
I'm asking all our brothers to say a prayer for Brian tonight, and Christina especially.
