Boner's turbo project - The Poison Idea.

first...a little history...

i got the bike new in 01 and instantly did a few minor mods:

XX mirrors
dual HMF hi's
PAIR removal
full box mod
painted inners
Motek undertail
reaper risers
3-hole dogbones
lighter bar ends
clear turn lenses
clear double bubble




that lasted about a year, and then i dumped her in a gravel driveway (never ride with a dislocated hip, kids). so then she got:

new paint job
a polish job
Magical Carbon mirrors
Gilles Rearsets



that lasted about another 2 years...then:

stage 1 GHETTOFIED w/blow off
TMH case saver
fully adjustable lowering links
Magical carbon fiber shield
Carbon front fender



That lasted 1 year....and now we are up to currant time. The bike is under a major overhaul right now. its an ever evolving process...but after doing alot of looking around and research ive compiled a huge pile of parts...and still waiting on some more. so, here is the list of things under the knife right now

Ultra turbo kit (water-air IC, t-61 turbo, full pipe, and all the internal treats)
Full carbon fiber body work (with custom paint to be done by Rob Kelly)
Catalyst carbon inners
Ohlin forks
Ohlin rear shock
Ohlin steering damper
BST carbon wheels
Speigler 8-piston front calipers, rotors, lines
Speigler radial master cylinders for front brake and clutch
AP racing dual circuit/4 piston rear caliper w/ custom hanger
Speigler rear rotor
AIM MXL full digital dash
AMS-1000
custom aluminum dash
THM triple trees and bars (hard anodized black)
Woodcraft stator cover

im sure thing will be added or changed along the way...but, to date, dennis has the bike and its damn near done...






i should get it back by the end of the week 6-23 (hopefully)

ive got the paint job worked out...i have silver carbon body work...and its gonna get a candy over top of the carbon in some places and have the raw carbon in others. think "AC Cobra". the sides will have a BIG logo that i designed for this project. ive got a graphic design degree...i guess its good i use that useless diploma for fuckin something. lol!

it kinda mocks turbo veins but incorperates a spiders body to tie in the bikes name "The Poison Idea"

couple things:
CF front fender: Catalyst?
dash mount: mounting the AMS1000, what else? Thinkin about gettin 1, but bigbore kit. no AMS. So I'm thinkin of digital tach w/ air/fuel ratio.
just need to know who makes it?

it had a black catalyst from fender on it, now it will have an OP sivlver carbon fender on it.

in the dash im mounting the AMS and the MXL digital dash. Indystreetracer made it....and i know he can do custom ones as well. look him up in the site sponcers section.

did some switching around of rear braking components this week. i got a Speigler rear rotor to match the fronts, and i had got the bracket for my 4 piston rear caliper machined out.

still dont have the bike in hand yet. wheels should be here tomorrow or weds, so with ANY luck ill have it by the end of the week....*fingers crossed*

wheels are locked and loaded now! big brakes are on the front, and the turbo work is done.

damn i cant wait to ride it. hell, im even excited to try out the Turd Net (patent pending)!!

i posted these in another thread....but i figured id drop them here as well.

I got the bike back from MOTORHEADs and W...O...W! unreal...the bike is smooth, quiet, strong, and runs like a raped ape. the bike still has an aluminum sprocket on it, so i have to be real careful not to get too crazy on it. Hopefully, ill have some steel sporckets on it by next week.

Im gonna give the bike a massive bath and clean up...try and tidy up some misc wiring and install my carbon inners.






ive still got a pile fo stuff for it:

MXL dash
AMS-1000 (on its way)

Ohlins forks
Ohlins shock (on its way)
Ohlins damper (need to sort out mounting)
Tobin Seat (need to send out)
full CF body work

im also going to get a ton of stuff powercoated, anodized, and Ceramic coated....but i just wanna ride right now, so until the snow falls or we get a really rainy week...im just gonna ride!!!

UPDATE-

ive done a few things here and there on the bike...nothing real major. i got my Ohlins shock installed and i LOVE it...major improvement. i also dove into the OEM radiator plumbing. ive always hated how it looked peeking thru the fairings...and i have an overall dislike for hoseclamps. so, 2 trips to Summit racing to get the parts, and a trip to my local fab shop and that OEM radiator is looking much better

radiator with a fresh coat of black, tabs moved around to proper mount 2 fans, and 2 -16 AN fittings installed.

im going to finish swapping over to all -AN Aeroquip fittings this week, and i hope to have the oil pan off so i can get an -AN bung welded in it also. im also in the process of getting my boost control all dialed in. Dennis gave me a rteal basic set-up cause we knew i was going to do something more elaborate down the road.

the temp sensor relocator is a super simple mod:

-cut the rad hose
-hose clamp in the relocator
-unscrew temp sensor from radiator and plug hole with provided plug (altho i had mine flattened, welded shut, and smoothed)
-lenghten wires for sensor about 24"
-screw temp sensor in relocator.

i have about $100 in fittings and weld-in bungs and a $30 Outback lunch bill and bar tab (the welder said he'd do the work in exchange for a good lunch...lol)

a bit extreme? ya....but wait till u see what im doing for vac/boost lines...
