Yosh cams and Carpenter head.Good combo or not?
« on: June 26, 2006, 03:32:21 PM »
Can you run Yosh drop ins in a Carpenter street head with stock valves or are the cams too small? What are the pros and con of this set up?Could I leave the Yosh intake in and run a stock intake on the exhaust? The bike makes 184 hp with cams ,pipe, box mod, custom map etc, etc.Should I just add a dry shot and forget the head or can I benifit from headwork with these cams? Thanks.

You would be about 194-196 with the head but why not just get a nice small shot (about 28-32) and call it a day?

I revise my estimate to 190(ish)...

gnd111,I guess that a small dry shot would solve the problem but the bottle goes empty. If i got the head it would be there all the time.Do you really think I could make 194-196 with the yosh cams Bob Carpenter head?I've heard that he uses big cams in his head combo but don't know this for sure.I've also heard that if you do any headwork or planning on a compression increase that yosh cams don't work too good with this set up.Is there any truth to this? Thanks.

Yosh cams seemed to work decent on GeorgeC's 1397 with a stock head.  I think he ran 152 consistently like that...

I had a ported head then...  Not the same one I have on the bike now, but not a stock one.  My 1397 has never seen a stock head.
