Need help with my 05 gsxr 1k
« on: August 20, 2006, 02:45:04 PM »
ok i bought this bike used with 2900 miles. the bike was suppoably done by mrytle west. it is flat black, 12 over myrtle west arm, lowering links, air shifter with on board tank/pump, shinko 005, sprockets i know the back is a 44, and it has a bunch of other cosmetic stuff.
First off my airshiter pump and tank will run but i can not get the shifter its self to work. i have checked all the fuses and most of the wiring and nothing has stood out to me so any ideas will help. i checked the hot wire from the horn and it is hot also.
Second, i did the crank case vent to the pair valves today. i capped off the 2 holes in the air box but i left the ele. connector at the back with the vacume hose going to it from the t.b hooked up. is this correct or should i remove it and plug the vacume? also, on the front where the pair valve hoses from the vavles and ele. connector was. what do i do with the wires that plugged into the connector. i left them aloose and got a f1 light. i shorted them together and i get no light. should i leave them together or what?
Third, after i did the crank case mod today i get a flashing oil light when the bike idles down below 1k. it has never done this before today. the bike is full of oil. is it doing this because it is idling too low with the crankcase vent not ran to the air box now? any help is greatly appreciated.

first off welcome to the board nice looking bike kinda looks like my  05 limited.
What kind of  kill box do you have for the airshifter?

pair valve mod  just  leave the  valve in  place and keep it connected to the harness  you can  put a resister in line  but i have seen that done and the resisters fail for some resone  Ask DaveO  on this he is a very smart guy when it comes to  things like this

The oil light is do to the pair mod now what oild are you running ?

the bike has castrol in it not sure what weight. i havent ran the bike at the track yet i have to figure out everything out with the airshifter and stuff first. what temp are these bikes supposed to run. its hot outside but the temp has gotten up to 220 before it started to come back down.

when i was looking at it the other day there is a wire that is aloose from the left hand plug that plugs into the comp. it looks like it was pulled out but i'm not sure if it is supoosed to be out. i dont really remember what color it was but it was about in the center of the plug at the bottom.

so your saying take the hoses off the pair vavle and lay it in the engine compartment and plug it back in?

thats the manuel

remove all the hoses  from the stock pairvalve and leave it  bolted in the stock place up front on the frame and  leave it connected to the harness

do you think that wire that is aloose from the computer harness is why the air shifter is not working? maybe it went to the kill switch or something.

The pair valve mod can cause the oil light to come on at idle with thin oil....just disconnect the breather and leave open and test again. There should be a black with brown wire disconnected to stop the FI light form the exhaust valve...

more and likely the wire if it is a black with a brown tracer is the wire you have to  pull  for you exhaust  valve. you have to remove the  exhaust  valve when you put a aftermarket system in

that is the same wire that was disconnected. so what do i need to do inorder to get this oil light to go away? plug the pair valve back in but leave the hoses going from the valve cover to the crankcase vent like i have them? i noticed in one link u put up with block off plates. those are more for turbo bikes right?
what about my temp. where do these bikes run usually?

Temp is  normal

The oil  light is  normal as  daveo said  at low rpm  might  go away  with  diffrent oil

You do not need the block off  plates  that was just a refrence to show you.

Davo said just pull  the  hose  going to the crankcase and  test it out then plug it back in to make sure that is what is causeing the oil light it is really nothing to worry about if it is the pair  valve doing , thicker oil should take care of the problem

the service manuel loads fine for me  right click and save as  might help

turn your idle up to 1200 rpm
