Thanks HYPER- I called and talked to them today and they make a .030(.026 compressed,same as stock);a .036 (.032 comp.)and a .040(.036 comp.)
They just increase the thickness of the middle layer.Sounds like the way to go. Any one else
feel the same as HYPER?

cstraubs1---Well if it works for you at 370hp it sure as hell will work for me. Are you using stock head bolts? If yes, what tq. #'s are you using?

I would avoid the cometic "hp" sytle gasket, but anything else is OK. More than one person has had the moveable paired cylinder sealing rings move around and cause damage. Hogslayer had one lodge between one of the intake valves & seat.

Standard Cometic gasket is my first choice. I'd advise staying away from their "HP" gasket. In theory a good idea but the sealing ring can be a nightmare if if gets dislodged, and it's easy to do.

I agree totally! Tried a cometic on a 1397,it would not seal. I'm sure most are fine but Schnitzs mechanic told me back years ago they were notorious for this. Burs around the gasket kept them from sealing, you had to really look close to make sure there were none. I had to pull my motor back out of the bike and pull the head back off an put a stock gasket bored out to a 1397  from Freedom motorsports. Sealed fine.

Thanks for the help--I ordered a comtic head gasket this morning-8:30am. I didn't get to see all the coments until now. They never mentioned anything about "HP" gaskets so at this point I don't know whats coming. Spaz your right about the stock gasket but in my case I couldn't use it. Just bought one 2 days ago, guess I'll have to hang it on the wall for decorations.

I would like use a little more TQ on the stock head bolts, any suggestions?

Thanks Pat & Bugsy. If I understand this right,
the standard cometc gasket looks like stock and the HP version has a sealing ring around the edge
of the bore.???
