OK, I have to share.
I researched and wanted to run Metzelers again, because they served me so well before on other bikes.
Apparently, Metzeler redesigned the M3 to replace the current M1 with a stickier, longer wear tire. (The current M1 is going to be redesignated the M8 or something) The new M3 claims 40% more grip and 50% more wear, due to having Silica in the rubber. It runs cooler, so the rubber can be stickier without scrubbing off so fast. The circumferential belt heats the entire tire up in only 2 miles (3km) according to their specs.
All I know is I flicked my bike over on both sides yesterday way over a buck and it was so solid I felt like I could have gone twice as fast around those corners!
When I got home, I felt the tires and they were SO sticky I was amazed! They felt like race tires after a hot lap! My wife walked up and I was explaining to her how great they were. She did not quite understand so I stuck one of my business cards to the edge of the tire where it was vertical and it stayed, heck it might still be there, it was last night!
I encourage any of you canyon riders to look into these tires. Check it:
