Advice on KZ 1000
« on: August 01, 2006, 02:21:49 AM »
A friend of mine has this KZ 1000 frame with gs 1100 forks and swingarm and 2 kz 1000 motors ( no Carbs) that he said both ran before they were pulled out. some odd and end stuff also that goes along with it. I am thinking about buying it and making a pro et bike out of it. there seems to be a lot Kz stuff still out there even though the bike is what 20 something years old. He wants $750.00 for all of it. So what are your feelings is it worth it. APE still makes big bore kits for it and some parts, I have learned that the tranny needs a lot of work. And the crank is pinned so thats needs to be welded up. I would like to build a bike from top to bottom. Not looking for a 7 sec. bike maybe high 8s. thanks for any advice.

KZ's still dominate my local track.  Parts are plentiful and relatively cheap to buy.  If its still got a stock frame be sure to gusset the 3 tubes under the fuel tank together.  Bikes like to shake at the end of their run if you dont.
No busa yet but maybe....after the first of the year
