Yoshi Header - How Can I Tell??
« on: August 15, 2006, 09:12:05 AM »
I bought my bike with only a yoshi RS-3 exhaust (SS versioN).  I'm thinking I could possiblity have a yoshi header on there as well.  I have no clue what the stock header looked like and I'd like to verify that I do or don't have a yoshi header.  How can I do that?

Thanks for any input!

OK, there are two things to check for....

1) If you have a set of Bolts at the forward edge of your cans, you have Bolt-on mufflers only.

2) If you have No bolts on the cans, look under your 'Busa and see if you have a massive 4 into 1 into 2 piped collector, black. This is the slip-on "half-system" and uses the stock forward headpipes. One side (I think it is the right side) has a large "resonator" piece just before the muffler mid-pipe joint.

3) If None of the above and the pipes all all stainless all the way to the motor, you likely have a full system.

I have a single pipe on the bike and I have no black pipes in the whole system and all appears to SS.  All of it looks bronze/rainbowed colored from the header on back.  I have no bolts from the exhaust tip to where the muffler slips onto the mid-pipe.

Looks like I have a full system, sweet!

Thanks for the info man!

Yep!  :thumb:

Certainly a full system, it sounds like stainless that has turned that nice "caramel" color from the heat.

Take a look where the Mid-pipe comes out from the right side fairing and make sure you have 1/4" of clearance to your plastic. If not, add a couple washers to one of the bolts or slightly shave the fairing to prevent it from ever melting.

If you have had it nice and hot already and no problems, or enough clearance, you are good to go!

I always swore by Yosh, I tried a Muzzy this round to try something different, it is a great system also with a great price.  8)

AWESOME!  Glad to confirm what I have!  I have a PC3USB on the way and PM'd Quasar for a custom map, so now I can tell him everything on the bike!  Can't wait to feel what this thing feels like running 100%!!

if you have 1 can on the bike you have a full system.
