I am going to try running Engine Ice but you have to run 100% of the stuff.  I have to buy some more bottles, which are only 1/2 gallon each.  How much water does a BUSA cooling system hold???

Thanks guys.

Last time I had the dealer do it I gave them two bottles of Eng ice. They returned 1/2 of bottle to me
so 1.5 bottles where used.   Hope that helps you

The bottles are only 1/2 gallon each.  Do you really mean 1.5 bottles of 1/2 gallon????  That would only be 3/4 of a gallon in the entire cooling system, do you mean 1.5 gallons???  That makes more sence.

I got 15000 miles on mine, had it in since the first service. Iv'e had to change it a couple times because of the 1397 and tranny problems, but cooling system looks fine.

Engine ice is ok to leave in for the winter.  Supposed to flush it once a year.  You could use 7th gear coolant which is the same stuff, plus an additive to make it a "lifetime coolant", comes in gallon sizes and is cheaper.  I tried engine ice, regular coolant (honda) and dexcool and personally the dexcool seems to keep my temps down better.  With engine ice I would overheat in heavy traffic...irritated me.  No real # on the gauge but engine ice would normally run right on the midline.  Dexcool and water runs a full needle or more blow the midline for me.

The engine ice website reccommends changing it out every year...just as an FYI.  I had mine in there 2 seasons and when I flushed it the blue turned to a dark purple.

I have been runing it for about 2 1/2 years myself with no problems.

what exactly is ENGINE ICE

Engine Ice is PG coolant (Propolene SP? Glycol) mixed with water.  Most other coolants are EG mixed with water.  PG has a lot of benefits but the problem is the thermal conductivity is different than that of EG.  So my understanding is that it has a tendency to not absorb the heat as quickly as EG.  I'd imagine some water wetter may help if you run it.  Unless you're at the track a lot, I didn't see much benefit to switching to it...no benefit at all actually...as you could tell from my comments.  40 bucks is a little steep for a coolant change as well.
