breaking it down, road racing the real deal.....
« on: August 29, 2006, 05:10:09 PM »
I have recorded historical data for the purpose of comparing fastest "race" lap times between, MotoGP, WSB, FIM SS, and AMA superbike and superstock racing fastest race lap times,

I broke it down like this, brno being the most recent race for ALL categories, then Laguna Seca as AMA does not race internationally but MotoGP was here in july so you can compare times figuratively....

the way it looks is the fastest WSB riders could compete somewhere between mid pack and back of the motoGP riders... the fastest WSS riders would only be seconds off the   slowest MotoGP riders and mid pack amongst WSB riders...

as for AMA, now get this, for a almost virtually stock bike, AMA superstock, the fastest riders will be somewhere around the back compared to MotoGP riders, the fastest AMA superbike riders will be somewhere around the back and midpack of MotoGP riders!!! and the fastest AMA superstock riders are somewhere between the lead and midpack compared to the AMA superbike riders....

quite the eye opener when you consider that FIM supersport bikes are only 6 seconds off lead pace compared to MotoGP and a virtually stock GSXR 1000 running a street legal tire can hang with the slowest MotoGP bikes!!!

BRNO ceske republiky (2006)

motoGP:

lead 158.157

mid-pack 159.339

back 203.007

WSB:

lead 2.01.453

mid 2.03.256

back 2.07.324

FIM:

lead 2.06.633

mid 2.07.735

back 2.11.782

AMA: Laguna Seca for comparison to motoGP at this course as AMA does not compete internationally... (2006)

SUPERBIKE:

lead 126.100

mid 128.608

back 132.289

AMA SUPERSTOCK:

lead 126.019

mid 128.196

back 134.064

MotoGP Laguna Seca (2006)

lead 1.23.333

mid 1.24.463

back 1.26.098

So it begs the question, who are the best riders in the world? the guys riding on the safest F-1 groomed circuts on 250 hp top of the line technology, or the guys riding on almost stock bikes with street compounds on courses 12 ft wide in areas with trees planted on the runoff? hmmm, no traction control here!

What track is 12ft. wide with trees in runnoff. Who would pay to run it?
