Clutch Springs Install Question
« on: September 06, 2006, 03:33:00 PM »
How the hell do you still use the stock bolts to install aftermarket HD springs? You can't push the spring in far enough to use those bolts... I tried slightly longer bolts but they ruined two outer pressure disks. Let me hear this...

I'm not sure. I got them from .org member Nem1300. Based on the force needed to compress them, I'd guess they are the 60 lb springs.

I ordered a set of Schnitz 40 lb springs today, just to be sure. Hoping that will allow me to use the stock bolts again... We'll see.

I ordered my HD springs from APE when motorheads failed to arrive and they came with new bolts.

Why did the longer bolts ruin the two pressure plates?  :?

Must have either allowed play in it or too tight, and pulled the seats out of those spring recesses. Twice.

Sounds like it was to much spring pressure then.... so no matter what bolts you try to use its going to do the exact same thing. I would wait till the other springs you ordered arrive and use those.
