Solenoid placement, where is best?
« on: October 08, 2006, 06:23:18 PM »
Is it better to place the solenoid (for dry kit) as close to the fogger as possible with as short a line as you can? Will engine heat cause problems for the solenoid? Or is it better to have the solenoid at the rear of the bike closer to the bottle? I realize if it's close to the airbox the line going from the bottle to the front is going to be a tad long but I guess a purge kit would fix that, no? I'm looking for a more responsive hit

the closer to the nozzle the quicker the hit, heat can be a problem for the solinoid

i had my solinoid in the trunck, the hit is pretty slow,a few weeks ago i moved it forward about 18'' just behind the enguine compartment, between the shock and the frame, the hit is a little quicker and the solinoid stays cool

I am going to mount mine right on a pressure regulator. There should be no need to purge then.right next to the bottle.

I'm like Tom,
but mine was at 194hp before the 42 jet, so I needed it to come in softer at stock length.

you guys have it rough

i just broke down and ordered that fancy 90 degree 3 an swivel,to run a single line
i picked up the plate, and a 2 ft 3 an line, earlier this summer, with the solinoid moved forward (near the shock) it should just make it,that will cut line length nearly in half again, should hit a little quicker

Now I have another regulator and a plate plumbed that's not shown in this picture.

Nozzle mounted to the Solenoid,Mount Solenoid to air Box Lid,Remove Air Box temp senser and place it Between # 2-3 Velocity Stacks and Plug the Old Hole.
Bend Down Solenoid Mounting Bracket to about 45Deg, Use - 3 line From Bottle to Solenoid and use a Smaller Jet,Just a Thought. :thumb: :thumb:

I cant send Photos from Here,But Mount the Solenoid to the Air Box Lid then Bend Down the Mounting Tab so the Nozzle sprays into the the roof above the Velocity stacks. You place the The Nozzle as close as you can to the Velocity stacks and still get good coverage of all the Velocity stacks.
And use a smaller Jet.Burt :thumb:

the two stacks below the stacks won't get more nitrous   :?

Sorry I dont understand what you mean about the stacks?,Burt

He's saying that you'll feed the 2 in the center cylinders better than the outside 2................I think?

Won't the solenoid get too hot as it's so close to the engine??

zactly, i meant the two stacks below the nozzle.  i would understand one nozzle mounted above each stack through the lid.  each nozzle would have a very small jet so each cylinder gets about 15hp.  chris coupe had one nozzle shooting the stacks and ended up with a new 1397.

Sorry now I under stand what you mean.I dont Know about all Nozzles But our Nozzle If moved to the front of the Air box lid and when mounted up side Down with the Nozzle attached then I bend the Solenoid mounting tab so the Nozzle sprays into the Roof of the air Box and it will cover all 4 Velocity stacks.

I do have a Y fitting that will attach to the Solenoid with two Nozzles and with this set up you can move the Solenoid closer the Velocity stacks.

But I would always Bench test your set up off the Bike ,Hook it up with the Air Box off and spray and see How it comes out the 4 Velocity stacks,Burt :thumb:

Sure there is always Heat But we never Have a Problem with our Solenoids Because ours are Machined out of Billet Aluminum and Realy  how much heat is in your air Box?
But if your Solenoid is getting hot in the air Box then I would get a Better Solenoid to handle the heat,Burt :thumb:
