Take two ping pong balls and a magic marker. Write "S" on one and "K" on the other. Throw them into a brown paper bag and swing the bag around for a couple seconds (you know, to get them good and mixed up). Only open the bag enough for your hand to go in without looking and grab one of the balls. If you pick the one with the "S" get the Suzuki, if you pick the one with the "K" get the 10R. This method is much easier and nets about the same results as trying to figure out which bike is superior via internet opinions, magazine articles or owner word of mouth.

You better check on the new 07 gixxer.. all the 1000 are on a 2 year life span...zx10 1 year & 1 to go..

Depends on what you want. I have both, a 05 1k and a 06 ZX10. The 10 has more mid range and the 1k has more top end power......Hope this helps

I always thought the ZX-10 would possess more top end punch than the Gix. Good information to know.

I have to laugh when I see bikes that are offered for sale in order to homologate them for road racing, and then guys on the internet try to decide which one is better for riding on the street or for drag racing. It's like trying to decide between the Gixxer 1000 and the ZX10R for doing an Iron Butt on. Or whether the Ducati 999R is a good choice for Supermotard track days.

After doing work and doing all the tricks, on Deezuhl's ZX10 I brought it with me to Maxton and here are the result's after I entered 4 classes
it ran very fast

GSXR 1000....................LOOKS BETTER TO ME AND AROUND HERE SELL QUICKER ITS HARD TO GET RID OF A KAWI HERE..I HAD A 05 ZX10R WITH FULL EVO 2 BMC RACE PC3.....AND THIS GIXXER FEELS STRONGER AND HANDLES BETTER ...

I just picked up a 04 ZX-10 and i have to say its a real nice bike and has a way more power then the 02 1K i had both being stock of course, I'm sure the 05 1k would be even better!

I have always been a Gixxer guy, but I did stray off last year and went with an 04 ZX10R. It was a real nice bike, but I still missed the feeling of the Suzuki. I now have an 06 1k and im loving it. Dont get me wrong, the ZX10R was a bad ass bike, real "raw'. They actually made them more controlable with the new model, but from what I understand it took alittle away form the bike. The plastic on my 10 sucked ass though, I had 3 tails crack on me, and they were not abused in any way that should make the crack. I also had the front fairing crack, which supports the entire headlight assembly on the 04. I jsut didnt feel like it was put together well in that aspect.

That was my long winded way of saying go with the Gixxer, you will be happy.

I'm glad you wrote this TTLex because I was seriously eyeballing a blue '05 ZX-10R at a local dealership. What's different about the "feel" of the bikes? Thanks.

the new 10 is more controllable cause it has a flatter powerband. what people seem to think cause it doesnt "feel" as fast as the 04 is that they took away from it.. truth is they improved the bike in so many ways the 04 model doesnt even compare to the 06 IMO.. same reason my snappy feeling 06' 1000rr feels as fast as my 10 in 1st thru 4th even tho it isnt faster in any gear..

Deciding between the two is gonna be a tough one. I have had the 04 10r', mille, and cbr1000.... now on a Busa. Recently trying to decide between a k6 or a 10r and ended up with the K6. A little bit on price persuaded me (was able to get the better deal for the K6 at the dealership) but liked the factory gear indicator. Couldn't tell you how many times on many different bikes, where I was in 6th on the highway and doublechecked.....

Either way, you can't go wrong. Never have owned the R1 for my own personal reasons but between the k6/k5 or the 10r, let us know which way you go and why.....

Thats probably true...like I said, Im just going with whats written about the new 10's...I havent been on any other than my 04. I dont think anyone could go wrong with any of the new liter bikes tobe honest with you. I personally would love to get some seat time on the 06rr, thats one bike that I havent owned.

As has been mentioned, the price has gotta be a issue too. Not sure where your at, but theres a local dealer here in Maryland that has new 06 1k's selling for $8900......what I thought was a killer deal. I almost bought the black and red just because of the price, I ended up getting an 05 Turbo Busa instead since I already have the blue and white 06 1k.

once you throw a TRE on tho you lose the gear indicator which sucks..

This is all a matter of taste, but in terms of appearance, I'd go for the ZX10r. Just my opinion.
