I was in the same boat. At the dealer lookin at the 2006 ZX-10 and K6 GSXR1000. After the dealer approved me for both bikes, I was able to test both the ZX-10 and GSXR.

I ended picking the GSXR1000 because of the 2 things. The GSXR felt lighter and the crazy 1st gear pull was mind blowing! Felt much harder than my 05 Busa before mods.

Gimmi a wet 40 shot and some Velcro BABY!!!!

Anyone have any feeling on an 04-06 R1? They are a great looking bike.

They are beautiful but they feel soft in the middle. Where it really becomes annoying is when you need strong corner exit acceleration. You have to consciously think about what gear you're in because it's not going to pull out as hard as the Gixxer. I found this really surprising since the R1 has a 45 tooth rear gear. I would hate to see what it would do if it had a 42 toother like the 1000 or a 40 toother like the ZX-10.

Any problem can be remedied with enough modifications. A buddy of mine who road races Yammies said that once he threw a pipe, some stacks, a BMC filter and got in some dyno time on his personal R1 he's handling Gixxers without problems on the streets.

Holy Crap, I have to sell this ZX-12R!!

Who keeps the bike completely stock anyways?

Just find a bike you like and buy the damn thing!

It'll be faster than any 600 around :P

My daughter has had an opportunity in the last couple months to do a comparison test on the 06 ZX10 and the 06 GSXR. Both of the bikes were in AMA Prostar 1000SS configuration, stock wheel base, 3" ground clearance, no ballast and foot shifting. She probably had around 30 passes on the ZX10 before racing it at Gainsville. The ZX10 proved very difficult to keep the front end down in 1st and second and a real monster to ride. She got beat in the first round but it was her best time on the bike with a 9.529. About the middle of pack as far as times go but she had to race Teasley. This last weekend she got to test the 06 GSXR. On the Suzuki she is flat footed where on the ZX10 she is on her toes. The Suzuki is lower to the ground even though both bikes are at 3" ground clearance. She only did 6 passes on the GSXR but on her third pass she did a 9.43. She was able to throw the clutch on the 3rd pass and ride the bike out with 1.6 - 60 footer. She stated that if she had tried that on the ZX10 then she would have flipped the bike. The ZX10 can be fast but very hard to be consistant with good times. The Suzuki much more predictable, fast and easier to ride. No wonder why the Suzuki dominates the 1000 SS class.

Ive found  Suzuki is at the top of their game . They make a better ,more thought out machine than the other 3 jap brands.. Its a shame all the nitwit ,know  nothing about bikes ,kids gravitate to this brand . It makes me want to go buy a honda.
